Here's a fun fact: this episode turns 22 today.
Now please figure out this puzzle...
S17, EPISODE #3223: NFL PLAYERS WEEK
Airdate: 1/26/00
The answer for tonight's Preview Puzzle is CHIPS & DIP.
Wednesday also has female civilians:
Cheryl Aviva Amitay & Champ Bailey: Champ's from the Washington Redskins.
Alice Brady & Antonio Freeman: Alice's from Kenosha, WI while Antonio's from the Green Bay Packers.
Melissa Perra & Chris Slade: Melissa's from Portland, CT while Chris is from the New England Patriots.
Alice says HEADS OR TAILS. Now to flip over to $5K...
And this team beats the buzzer with KICKOFF (the normal puzzle solve cue plays)
DUD: N (Cheryl/Champ)
Cheryl (who's been season-ticket holders for 3 years) is a counsel for the nation's leading title insurance company who has her mom and a friend in the audience. Champ, who made his first interception when Pat Sajak was watching, is giving back to his church (Greater Faith Baptist Church)
1ST PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: limited edition WHEEL/NFL Players leather JACKET designed by Jeff Hamilton ($3,500)
QUICK PERFECTION! Alice nails EXTRA STRENGTH PAIN RELIEVER.
Alice's a school safety educator with the Kenosha Police Department. Antonio's playing for the March of Dimes of Wisconsin.
2ND PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: a $5,000 SPALDING GC
JACKPOT ROUND
Croissant Pockets is the sponsor.
Cheryl decides to play it safe and solves CHIN GUARD DOG.
DUDS: T (Melissa/Chris), E (Cheryl/Champ), S (Alice/Antonio), L (Melissa/Chris)
LEFT BEHIND IN POT: $8,250
Melissa's a preschool teacher who celebrated her second wedding anniversary (the hubby's in the audience). Chris the linebacker is playing for the Karis Baptist Church.
I thought we would have time for this round, but apparently the producers insist otherwise. And, wait, Pat spins $6,000 again?! I think the NFL players have inspired him!
Alice rightly says I'M BACK ON TRACK in a very good way.
DUDS: D (Alice/Antonio), S (Melissa/Chris), H (Cheryl/Champ)
FINAL SCORES
WINNINGS SO FAR (NON-CHARITY): $29,650
NO BANKRUPTS!
BONUS ROUND
LETTER PICKED (Alice): second E
RSTLNE gives three to start:
CHMI...also results in a wipeout. That was a SAUSAGE and no Chevy Tahoe for Alice.
FINAL TOTAL FOR ALICE/ANTONIO: $27,700 (all cash)
Vanna mentions that Pat's being hitting that $5,000 a lot. His spin power is 3/4ths, so it tends to be in that general area.
Full credit roll in the end.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Once again, a $6,000 Final Spin gives out a big all-cash total to the winner(s). 7/10
Though I really wish the show would preset the wheel to where top dollar would be on the blue flipper instead of the yellow flipper nowadays (regarding this episode's end chat) so that at least 2 players can have a chance spinning top dollar if time seems limited for the fourth round. It just feels so predictable and I don't think it will get any better given the current producer scenario.
