TL;DR: Is there any special tips for successful online video applications beyond what they list on the official website and what's painfully obvious like "make sure you don't look you rolled out of bed" and don't shoot your video so that it looks like it was done on a cell phone from 2006"? Could be from timing of application to what the contestant team hates hearing and so on.
Hi All!
My name's Zach. I've been a huge fan of Wheel of Fortune for a few years now and resolved to make a real effort in 2021 to try and get on the show. I submitted a video near the end of October and waited to see if I would get an email back asking me to do the standard Zoom Audition that's basically replaced the Wheel-Mobile events in a post-COVID world. Didn't hear anything for the rest of the year and kind figured I missed the boat since I looked online and saw people talking about how they did their auditions earlier in the month.
No matter! New year, new me. I saw an email from the Wheel Watchers Club at the beginning of this month that suggested I apply again, so I did a new video that tried to improve on everything I did before (more concise, better lighting, instead of being in my living room it was shot at my workplace which is fairly unique, etc.) and was able to submit it after some confusion on how to update my current application (The fine folks on their contact page said I had to use a new email address for my new video and photo since the one they had on file was active for two years).
Cut to now which is the end of the month and I'm feeling like I missed the boat again with several weeks of not having heard anything back from the Wheel team. I understand that I don't have a God given right to be on the show and that I might just not be what the producers are looking for in a contestant, but I feel like there's maybe something I could do in the future to better increase my odds of at least getting to play the game with people over a Zoom meting instead of being totally ghosted?
Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated. I just want to be less in the dark on this even if it's people giving me some hard truth on the matter. Thanks!
