Wheel Of Fortune! Where one spin of the Wheel could twirl you into some fabulous fortune.
A wonderful win this would be! It's a trip to Mexico!
Today's contestants are:
Carol Sutherland: Mother of two and a TV soap addict (to her husband's disgust), from Bournemouth
"Big Roy" (last name not given): Works with hydroelectric and likes cart racing, and met his wife on a blind date; from Aberdeen in Scotland
Janet Becker: Heavy marketing executive and in amateur dramatics, from Harrogate
The top value on the Wheel is 1,000, to the disgust of an ugly BANKRUPT space that nobody must ever think about. Here's our first puzzle!
Question: Which English highwayman rode a horse named Black (interrupted)
A second BANKRUPT breaks in to cause some trouble, but a second 1,000 space will protect our studio! We must guard Carol as she shows us a Waterford Crystal dressing table set, and Nicky as he puts a token on 400. Here's our next puzzle!
Question: Which mythical king turned everything he touched into gold?
Janet: Midas (Correct!)
Question: Elton John's song Candle in the Wind is a tribute to which (interrupted)
A fourth 1,000 space will fit perfectly on this Wheel!
Question: A taco is a pancake associated (interrupted)
Janet: Mexico (Correct!)
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
This could be good for Janet. Nicky will now give the Wheel a spin, and consonants are worth 200 doubled.
Janet: M (x2) (11,600)
Janet says HANDEL'S CHRISTMAS MESSIAH, which is incorrect.
Carol: L (DUD!)
Roy: D (DUD!)
Janet: N (12,000)
Carol: P (DUD!)
Roy: B (DUD!)
Janet: G (12,400)
Carol: Q (400)
BONUS ROUND:
We have a special message for Janet! She's the one who's going to win one of these prizes!
A trip to Mexico
A £5,000 Jackpot
A 4-wheel drive Suzuki Vitara
Janet wants the car. After her comeback, she'd better solve this puzzle!
TSNRME gives her just a few letters.

Janet solves GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE.
Were she and Steve thinking that it's time for another prize? Janet now has a look at a wooden writing desk, a trip to Nice, and a pair of bedside cabinets and pine blanket box.
Janet picks the trip to Nice. More of the "Roue de la Fortune" after this!

We expect you were also thinking about a third 1,000 space and doubled point values. We don't know if you were expecting Carol to have a man's designer leather belt with gold key ring and silk tie, or Nicky to put the token on 500.
Now, if you already know the answer to this puzzle, we'd have to have an investigation...

Actually, Carol just says "Q, THE QUEEN'S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE" without even letting the trilon light up! The "only vowels remain" signal sounds over the solve cue.
She solved the puzzle, but maybe Steve should decide which of a garden shed and tools, a trip to the Algarve, or a set of garden furniture that Carol will get without giving her a chance.
He'll be nice, and Carol will pick the Algarve trip.
