I’ve read that millions of people apply online to be a contestant but only about 600 are selected yearly. How many of those million are contacted for a final audition?

Prior to the pandemic, I’d estimate between 1000-2000 people a year were invited to a final audition. This is based off of an estimate of 8-10 cities visited per year and 150-200 people getting an audition in each city.
Since the pandemic, we really don’t know. Very little has been shared publicly or gleaned from contestants who have posted on here.

I’m going to double my previous estimate to 4000, because no one is stopping me. 🙂
Based on my own audition experience, as well those of others, I’d say 15% or so of auditioning folks got chosen to be on the show. At roughly 600 contestants per season (due to team weeks existing back then), 4000 sounds right to me.

At roughly 600 contestants per season (due to team weeks existing back then), 4000 sounds right to me. I feel like my odds are good, I just wish we heard back either way. Knowing that not getting a letter next week doesn’t necessarily eliminate my odds and that I could get a random last-minute phone call before filming stresses me out!🤣 |

I am in the same boat on waiting on pins and needles. Submitted my (quirky AF) audition video Monday June 13 2022 at 9am, was shocked to get an email the next day Tuesday June 14 inviting me to schedule a virtual audition. Scheduled for Thursday June 16 and felt super positive super confident like I totally nailed it. So now it's the waiting game. I wish we knew if the two weeks timeline to hear back is still consistent in virtual audition times!!!! :-)

Oooh that is so exciting! I just heard from someone else on another group who got his acceptance email four days after his audition, so now I know anytime is possible and I'm just continuing to check. Trying to "read" my own audition vibes - did they say anything in particular to you to make you feel confident you'd get the acceptance email? Did you get good vibes, feel like you nailed the audition, anything? Things I interpreted as encouraging were said during my audition and vibes I interpreted as good were given but I don't want to get my hopes up if it turns out I'm wrong!!!! Context: Toss ups: got 3/6 definitively and would have had 4/6 if my internet hadn't done a blip, making her not hear me when I yelled my name Individual test: got 14/16 She seemed to think I had interesting things to say too, saying "ooh!" a few times and I saw her writing a note or two when I talked?  :-) I'm just over here compulsively checking email - hearing about other experiences will totally help me acquire some chill!!! Lol |

Lol That sounds really promising!! I’m trying to get one a specific week and the CC asked me questions related to that week so I saw that as a good sign. I also said I loved spicy food during my interview and the CC said “me too!” so that increased my confidence for some reason, lol. I got 5/6 of the toss ups and 14/16 of the puzzles. There were only two people in my audition though, so that probably plays a role as well with the toss ups. I made a point to speak very loud and clearly. There was a puzzle that ended in an “S” and the CC complimented me for emphasizing the “S” at the end to make the last word plural. I think from the way you describe your audition, it sounds very similar to how mine went and you have a good shot! Good luck!!  |
