I've certainly made a lot of progress with recreating my favorite title card of Wheel of Fortune, the one used from September 1992 to the summer of 1994.
Here's my first attempt from April 1, 2007. It's disappointing, but you can't always get it right the first time.
Exactly seventeen months later, I made a much better attempt. Even now, it still holds up quite well. My biggest gripe is that it's a bit too dark, but I used it as a model for making title cards for my fanmade version of the show.
A lot has happened in the nearly fourteen years since I made the September 2008 attempt. To name a few.
One, I discovered a way to add sparkle effects to big-value spaces in the late summer of 2010.
Two, I went lineless for a self-challenge and started saving my illustrations as PNG files instead of JPEG in the spring of 2013.
Three, I started making animations in early 2014.
Four, I got my Live Play game to close out the 2010s in spectacular fashion. Yeah, you know I wanted to say that.
Finally, Wheel of Fortune Live is coming to the Rosemont Theatre on October 23rd, and yes, I have a VIP ticket!
So to show how far I've come, I started making this animation not long before 5:00 last night, and I worked almost nonstop for over nine hours until I finally finished it up at 2:00 this morning. I went through a lot of trouble and setbacks, and my mind was fried as a result, but my efforts were rewarded when it was finally finished.
And for a nice Bonus Round, here's a version I did earlier today with much more value variety as I love experimenting with dollar values.
