While talking to Kev earlier regarding the recap section, and the fact that we're about to start a new season in the fall, I mentioned that it might be time to finally do that reorganization of the retro recap section I've been toying with for a while.
As it stands right now, the retro recap section contains all recaps prior to when then-WOFL started recapping episodes in season 28 (calendar year 2008). The section was split into decades for easy organization, and whenever a new season started, the previous season's recaps were archived into a subforum in the first run section, basically separating official WOFL/BAV recaps from submitted retro ones.
That organization dates back to 2011. It certainly worked then. It's now 2022. You have to scroll past an entire page worth of subforums to get to new recaps.
So it's time to move some of them over to the retro section. The question I have for everyone...how should we organize them? Should we just continue going by decade (with the 2000-08 section including the rest of 2008 and 2009), expanding retro recaps up to 2020, or should we reorganize them by seasons (1-10, 11-20, 21-30, etc.)? If we do the latter we can simply just move existing subforums over to the new ones, but we'd need to reorganize the existing sections into the new ones. Fortunately the directory can be of help in that regard, and reorganizing that shouldn't be too bad.
Honestly I'm more in favor of doing it by season, but I'm opening the floor to thoughts.

When it comes to organizing by year or by season, I'd much rather have them organized by season.
Also, I messaged Kev a while back that I could arrange Seasons 7 and up (possibly Season 6 if we can narrow down the airdates) into tables like the First-Run Recap Directory. It's likely that the sections can still be 1983-89/1990-99/2000-08 like they are now, as I don't think it was ever assumed that the threads would be created in order anyway. What really matters is how they're organized in what we still call the Retro Recap Directory (assuming that can even be a single page anymore).
I've actually been creating tables for Seasons 7-25 on my own time. The formatting is pretty much the same as the First-Run directory, except with grey text for unrecapped shows, and I've saved the code in Notepad. It's just a matter of me finding a way to share these tables. I'm absolutely sure we'll be able to keep "retro" and old "first-run" together. (I'll note that I haven't created a table for Season 6 yet due to airdate confusion.)

Individual seasons definitely need their own subforum because we now have entire retro seasons at our fingertips.
Perhaps some subsubforums should be in order to make things less klunky.

The plan always has been to keep the existing subforums for the old BAV recaps together; just move them into whatever organization we go with in the retro section.

I'm in favor of doing subforums by season, along with maybe three forums for daytime: Chuck, Pat, and Rolf/Bob. Maybe also subforums for Wheel 2000 and CWOF since they're separate series, rather than mixing in CWOF with S38/39. I prefer by season for syndie because it feels weird that episodes like December 31, 2009 and January 1, 2010 would be in different sections if it's by year or decade, even though they're both Season 27 and were part of the same theme week.

I'd say subforums for seasons, and if it gets too crowded then group them by decade - and for the straddle seasons maybe put them with the decade in which they started?
Either way, glad others have also been looking at the organization, I've been thinking about it but our recappers are so active I've just been barely keeping up. Figure there's been about 20 added today and similar a lot of nights the last couple weeks.

So here's my thoughts:
The existing sections by decade become Seasons 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, and so on. Within each section are subforums for each season.
In addition, since it is a massive undertaking to move what is now thousands of threads around, I'd certainly appreciate some extra help in getting everything done, with the goal to relaunch the retro recap section by the season premiere in the fall.

I think the only argument to be had is if people want to split it by years or seasons.
I'm fine either way, and am willing to help reorganize; just tell me when that's a final decision.

This is so much better from the recap writing side. I was able to spend a few minutes finding details to avoid "duplicate" recaps before, but this allows me to do it in just a few seconds.

“and a $30,000 Bonus Round cash minimum for Season 30”
FYI, that was introduced in Season 28.

we’re going of of Pat Sajak’s lie here, and the way it is phrased is factually correct

An update on future reorganization, especially for whammy007. Season 18 recaps have just been finished, so before Adam S gets started with another season of Wheel (and I'm guessing there will be a short break from uploading), this would be my chance to make some of the proposed recap directory tables public. Again, for anyone who hasn't seen the samples, the tables are formatted the same as those for Seasons 26 to present. For at least Seasons 12 to present (Season 11 can wait as the new threads would have to be created in reverse order anyway), I would be able to post separate directory tables for each season in the Seasons 11-20 board, plus 21-30 and 31-40...well, soon to be 40, but a placeholder should be fine. The directory threads are intended to be locked after creation, so we wouldn't have to worry about replies to said placeholder. Once that's done, the current season directory in the first-run section should be really easy to find.
