For 14 years, with the exception of CWOF, the rules for claiming the Million Dollar Wedge has remained unclaimed, where it can only be picked up once, appears as 1/3 of a wedge surrounded by small Bankrupt wedges, isn't Bankrupt safe even if won for the round, and can only be taken to Bonus Land if you win your match without hitting Bankrupt. With CWOF's much better chances of carrying it to the Bonus Round compared to the regular series, I'd feel that the large gap between claiming it needs to be narrowed a bit, not just became a million today is worth less in real money compared to 2008, but also to provide a better chance of even having a shot at given the already long odds, given that its been nearly a decade since the MDW was last won in the syndicated version.
This poll consists of several options:
1. Eliminate the skinny Bankrupts on either side by simply making it a full-size MDW wedge as on CWOF
2. Keep the Bankrupts, but allow the MDW to return in a future round if lost (up to Round 3)
3. Keep the Bankrupts, no future reappearances, but the MDW is Bankrupt safe after winning a round
4. Have three skinny MDW wedges, all with Bankrupts on either side, with one turning into a full Bankrupt for R2 and again for R3 (and the third just becoming $500 for R4+) This can allow multiple players to claim the wedge, but if a player lands on a MDW and already has one claimed, it becomes a $1000 space
5. Another skinny MDW is added if won by a player in R1 or R2, but as with option 4, becomes $1000 for a player who already has claimed a MDW
6. Other (a combo of these rules, introducing it in R4 and beyond)
Instead of some of the crazy ideas of making the MDW a permanent feature, I feel taking steps like these would be enough to smoothen things out a bit.
