Opening Clip: Big Hot Dog
S19, EPISODE #3542: WHEEL AROUND THE WORLD
Airdate: 10/16/01
Setting: Oriental Escape (Sept. 10-14)
Go!
Melissa unconfidently solves A CIRCUS HORSE.
Tuesday's trio:
Melissa Cornette: Bakersfield, CA. Manicurist married with 3 kids who's in a motorcycle family (each member has ATV quads and they often ride in the dunes on a beach).
Elisabeth Smith: Fort Worth. Recent University of North Texas grad where she got a certificate in e-commerce from SMU in Dallas and she's currently building up her business as a financial planner. Her mom's the pastor of her church.
Bob Smolka: St. Petersburg, FL (orig. from South Bend, IN). Postal letter carrier for three years (he’s had some interesting situations in his career where he had a lot of dogs chasing him though no bites yet and birds swooping down on his head since he was too close to the nest and even had a squirrel run up his leg trying to get a nut).
Go!
I'M (not) NEW AT THIS recapping gig, and Elisabeth spins first.
GIFT TAG: MEADE Telescopes
The first spin used a birds-eye view. The second spin was a PP edit as it showed the other $400 wedge (and the TARGET gift tag was showing).
Elisabeth mercifully solves SOAKING UP THE SUN for the house minimum.
1ST PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo MOUNTAIN BIKE, Translucent Series boombox and 4-piece extreme travel equipment set totaling $2,780
JACKPOT ROUND
Again, inconsistencies on a vowel call after spinning.
Bob reads it off to keep the bike. Of course he (and an007 wink wink) knows it's 007 (double O seven).
Pat was unsure about whether Bob should get the cash house minimum this round. Obviously, that's a no.
LEFT BEHIND IN POT: $9,500
2ND PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: trip to Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort + Malaysian airlines airfare (mistakenly labeled as CHINA), $8,500
Bob solves QUADRUPLETS & QUINTUPLETS.
Go!
Elisabeth solves LARRY KING LIVE.
DING DING! DING DING!
FINAL SPIN: $6,000
Bob finally gets some GERMAN POTATO SALAD. And Elisabeth realized what it was once the G was called...yikes.
FINAL SCORES
WINNINGS SO FAR: $32,630
Some contestants might receive an on-hand PC from Matsycom (the world's smallest).
BONUS ROUND
VEHICLES: Audi A4 ($25K+), 2002 Honda Passport ($26K+), Toyota MR2 Spyder convertible
LETTER CHOSEN: L (Bob's a lefty)
RSTLNE is stingy again:
BDMO...come up empty and FUN TIME, WIND ZONE, BIG TUNE and SKY DOME will definitely NOT work. He won't be receiving a PAY HIKE either way as the Audi A4 was in the envelope.
BOB'S FINAL TOTAL: $26,130 ($23,350 and the mountain bike)
Now what makes a GERMAN POTATO SALAD German? We honestly don't know.
