It was brought up some in Discord, and I thought a thread here would be appropriate. What local Wheel contests / giveaways do you remember from over the years? Does your local station still run any?
Example:
WPSD Channel 6 in Paducah, KY back in the 90s and parts of the 2000s (I am not sure of the exact timeframe) ran a local contest call "Wheel Deal." It was daily and played during the first commercial break. It used the '92-'94 theme with clips from that timeframe. They would display their own puzzle on the screen with a number for people to call, and the 4th caller with the correct solution would win (with only one winner per household every 60 days). They would win some kind of prize package (I feel like it was something to do with sausage or something like it). The winner was displayed at the bottom of the screen at the top of the 3rd or 4th round (I can't remember specifically). I remember the commercial having clips from early 90s Wheel shown on various televisions in people's homes and showing people dialing the phone number before cutting to the puzzle, partially filled in. They didn't use RSTLNE, so I think it was just random letters filled in. I'd love to snag a clip of it to see it again. I'm hopeful maybe I can run across one since I've stumbled on a couple of 90s Wheel ads from WPSD in the past week or two.
