Along with new adaptations of Wheel of Fortune ( Glücksrad) and Pyramid ( Die Pyramide), Jeopardy! won't escape the German revival bug and will premiere on SAT.1 next month with presenter Ruth Moschner. The show has taped episodes in Cologne over the past month. The most famous German adaptation of the show was hosted by Frank Elstner in the 90s and recently briefly revived on RTLplus with Joachim Llambi in 2016. Below are a few publicity photos that have been released - obviously capitalizing upon the nostalgia of the 90s presentation:

Correction regarding the revival: it doesn't appear to be a full series, but rather a one-off as part of the network's Die SAT.1 Kult-Show-Wochen—at least for now. It's kind of incredible that the showrunners went all out with the design, arguably moreso than the American version has in decades, only for what appears to be a single one-hour episode.

Love that set. Perfect hybrid of retro and modern.

Wow, they did a fabulous job with recreating the grid set! The grid set continues to be my favorite Jeopardy! set, and they did an overall beautiful job with giving it a modern touch. I also remember the shredded categories coming together to reveal themselves. That was so cool and unique. I wonder if this new German version is doing the same with them.
Now all the same, Germany's version of Jeopardy! back in the early nineties was just about the same as our version was at the time. Considering that their current version of Wheel is based off of the way it used to be there thirty years ago, they're doing the same thing in regards to this.

I'd really love to see something like this or the Swedish revival set be used for the US version next time they change the set.

The first promo of the revival has dropped: http://instagr.am/p/Cor_dc1tMrl Now that we can see it in action, it's a pretty faithful aesthetic adaptation of the US/German 90s "grid" set. The pacing of the show seems to be more relaxed than the American counterpart. It's also interesting that they've recorded their own version of the theme music (unless the one heard in the clip is simply promo music not used in the show).

Wow, I really like the presentation of this version. I like the split-screen, the red flashes on incorrect responses, and the animation on the clue tiles. I especially like how the clue zooms actually happen on the board and not just as an effect, so the contestants can easily read it like the home viewers.
And I love how the theme, much like the set, has elements of both the classic and modern versions.
