PlutoTV channel update

Good news! The Season 34 Teen Best Friends week that first aired the week of February 27-March 3, 2017 is back on Pluto TV at least On Demand. That Teen Best Friends week was one of the themed weeks to be temporarily removed from Pluto for a while. That week and all other themed weeks from Pluto's very first batch are back at least On Demand after a short period.

Good News: The S20-30 episodes have been restored On Demand, making all 450 episodes currently available for streaming at the same time.


Bad News: The pre-S20 episodes have been removed from the channel's rotation as of today.

The channel is now showing all episodes in chronological order. They're on Season 29 right now.

The channel is currently running a batch of 15 episodes from Thanksgiving weeks, all of which are new to streaming (including from two seasons that have never appeared on streaming or GSN), and all but two of which never reran in syndication. This includes the following episodes:

Season 27 - 4 episodes:

Any eps with numbers ending in 4 or 9 aired on Thanksgiving Day.

Only 4 out of the 15 eps have Bonus Round wins: 5121, 6681, 6684, and 6685. 7079 has a $100K loss.

Only 2 episodes reran on TV: 5121 reran November 20, 2010, and 6685 reran September 15, 2018.

None of these episodes are On Demand yet, and I'd say there's a decent chance they won't be since this seems like a limited-time thing. 6682 was on at 12:30 PM ET so I assume this started at 9:00 AM in chronological order. The eps air again starting with S27 today at 4:30 PM ET.

With at least some of the episodes involving Christmas, and the various Sony-leased series generally being very good about mirroring live/on demand, I really wouldn't be so sure of that or make assumptions for what it's worth.

EDIT: According to alexb1186, #S-1254-55 from Season 7's Christmas week premiered on Pluto at 6:00 AM ET, but not 1253.


These air until 3:00 PM ET today, at which point it goes back to the first Thanksgiving batch starting from #S-6682.

With 16 18 new episodes today, that makes 47 49 new episodes total so far. There may be more to come based on the "multiple of 5" theory.

Looks like that's it for now. From 12-6 AM ET tomorrow, the Thanksgiving batch partially cycles again from 5121-6877.

At 6:00 AM ET Monday, the first six episodes of the Christmas batch air again (271-661). At 9:00 AM, the channel goes back to the regular rotation starting with Season 35's Veterans Week (6671).

In all, we got 49 new-to-Pluto episodes, 26 of which have only aired once so far.

Also, the two new Season 24 episodes are in 4:3 and have the "Get Your SPIN ID Ready" graphic blurred out, which is not the case for the episodes from the March 2023 batch (two of those eps are in 4:3, however).

I was right! 1253 premieres Tuesday morning at 7:30 AM ET. In total, this makes 250 unique episodes that were added to Pluto over the course of 2023 (100 in March, 100 in August, 50 in November). Articles about the Pluto deal back when the channel first launched in August 2022 did say that 250 episodes would be available to start, then another 250 the following year, although I assumed that would mean the first 250 would be swapped out entirely for another 250 at once.

So in the Pluto channel's history, we've had 500 total episodes (well, 499.5 because of 7127 skipping R3) from 31 seasons and daytime, and half of the pre-COVID seasons not featured (6, 14, 31) reran the majority of their episodes on GSN.
