Since Friday Finals returned for WWE week, do you think it should return for all weeks? I like that it was a way to be on Wheel for more than one episode. Or should it return for special weeks only?

I have a different idea. Instead of the current sixth-show week format, said sixth show from 4 sessions would be used for "semi-finals" (top three scorers like before), and then have a Friday Finals for that (may or may not be cumulative from the first day). It would be a hybrid with the 3-day returning champs structure. The challenge would be accommodations for the finalists.
Otherwise, stick to the normal Friday Final format for all weeks.

Friday Finals would be best reserved for speciality weeks such as Moms, Dads, Best Friends, Teens, Military, Teachers, College, etc. Generally any week that has a specific contestant pool and isn’t just your average run-of-the-mill week.
One idea I’ve heard tossed around in years past is to reserve America’s Game weeks to have the top 3 biggest winners of each set’s week come back and play again. I like the idea a lot, but I worry that it wouldn’t be accessible to the average viewer and wouldn’t be fair to contestants whose weeks only taped 5 shows.
I don’t think Wheel itself will (or should) ever go back to returning champions, it was a product of its time and being a good player on Wheel is such a subjective thing in of itself in that those who win the most money aren’t always the best at hangman. An increase in Friday Finals and the introduction of Fan Favorites would be a nice way to bridge the gap between having returning champions and no repeat players at all.

plus they'd have to have a clause excluding a winner from being eligible if they win the 100k/million in the bonus round (for the sake of the budget), i'd imagine

Or maybe do a Friday finals with the 3 losers of the week. These being people who lost the bonus round or the 3 lowest scorers of the week. They could come back for a “redemption” match of sorts.
Just my 2 cents, of course.

^It is really easy to throw a game. I wouldn’t want that perverse incentive to have any chance of affecting the game.
A one-time unannounced second chance week? Maybe. But if it’s a regular thing, there has to be some distance so a contestant wouldn’t bomb after they lose the prize puzzle.
I actually don’t see the point in bringing back Friday Finals for the sake of Friday Finals? Returning champions allowed people to learn more about a person in a serialized way; you’d have to play remarkably to be remembered just because you had a high score. I’d rather do Fan Favorites II with half retro contestants and half fun contestants from the previous season.
I’m *okay* with it for certain themed weeks? It’s just that if I’m not guaranteed to see someone two or three games in a row, I’d rather three more people get more wealth than the rich getting richer.

I think doing Fan Favorites once or twice a year but actually acknowledging the show existed before 2015 (which the show recently has gotten really good at doing!!) and bringing back some deep cut retro contestants would be enough for me. Returning champions aren't possible with AG weeks and inter-week shuffling and Friday Finals are kinda meh to me outside of the gimmicky weeks like the "tournament"
Although if they wanted to do an actual tournament, the original J! TOC bracket of 5 quarterfinalists & 4 wild cards in 3 semifinal matches moving onto a 2-day total point affair still fits nicely into a two week period and could even out a late May sweeps period.
Just an idea.

Speaking solely as a fan here and setting aside everything involved on the production realities side: I am unabashedly a fan of champions. Weekly friday finals for theme weeks, and returning champions otherwise. Voting for theme weeks only because, were I to have my druthers over the topic, I'd have unrestricted returning champions on normal shows (and yes, would obviously seek to abolish the "6th day" tapings/weeks") and would at least want to do something for the specials. Yes, Wheel is somewhat arbitrary/more luck based (to a point), but champions have always been my favorite part of the older 90s shows (and daytime eps) and I think the show lost something when it ditched them (and quite a few equally luck-based daily series have also utilized them over the decades)

Per others, I'd also prefer the Friday Finals for tournaments. Bring back returning champions for regular play; it worked for Press Your Luck.

My dream format would be to have a season-ending tournament where the 12 biggest winners return, and just like WWE week, the three highest scorers among winners play in the Friday Finals (FF) championship. Have the old XL wedges return as "Tournament" wedges and function in a similar manner, with a winner taking it to the bonus round playing for the season number times $1000 in addition to an upgraded Bonus Wheel, with luxury cars worth $60,000-$100,000, along with the return of the $60K, $70K, $80K, and $90K envelopes used for a previous Big Money week. Otherwise, leave the FF for celebrity team weeks. Even without returning champions, it does leave the drama of having a leaderboard all season, and as the season progresses, becomes more difficult to crack the Top 12, so that the importance of a Bonus Round win greatly increases after the first 12 wins in Bonus Land. There could even be the revival of the "Some of the Greats" week from Season 12, but with the FF format, and I wouldn't mind a special primetime series featuring past winners on ABC, perhaps as a 13-show affair with a 27/9/3 tournament format that was recently used on Jeopardy's High School Reunion tournament. That way, with this proposed tournament idea, you could still have your three (or possibly four with this ABC idea) appearances just like in the good old days.

That way, with this proposed tournament idea, you could still have your three (or possibly four with this ABC idea) appearances just like in the good old days. It would be nice if Wheel does some sort of tournament at the end of every season or calendar year. I like the idea of a Wheel of Fortune tournament. It was former executive producer Mike Richards who first proposed the idea of a tournament which was originally planned to be held sometime in Season 39. Unfortunately due to Mike's dismissal that never happened. It was wonderful to see Bellamie do a WWE tournament this season. I hope we can see some more tournaments under Bellamie's watch in the future. I think it's going to take time for her to get adjusted to the job as executive producer since this is her first season with Wheel. Another suggestion for a tournament is if they did one on the road like NYC's Radio City Music Hall. A little while back Bellamie had hinted they might bring back road shows and come up for a new idea for a remote. My dream would be doing a tournament at Radio City Music Hall since the show has not been to New York City in 10 years and the last time they were at Radio City was for their 25th anniversary in the fall of 2007. My dream of a tournament is to be held at Radio City Music Hall. They could either do a tournament at the end of the season during the May sweeps or a tournament during the fall for the November sweeps. I know Wheel has always done Best Friends since their second visit to New York in 1999. If they do come to New York and do Best Friends Week my dream would probably bring back the top three teams of Best Friends with the highest scores for a Best Friends Friday Finals Tournament. In addition to Best Friends Week, if they do two or three more weeks in New York with regular contestants they should do do a semi-finals tournament for one week and a another week for a finals tournament to see which of the top three contestants would return on the final episode at Radio City Music Hall. Another dream proposal would be bring back the top three regular players with the highest scores on the final episode at Radio City Music Hall for the tournament. If they ever want to do a tournament on the road like Radio City Music Hall, they should ante up the game like increasing the chances of winning the million and adding more envelopes on the bonus ranging from $60,000-$100,000. Maybe they should do that on the day of the tournament. That is my suggestion of a tournament.

Why not shoot for a season-long tournament?
Weeks 1-30: Normal shows Weeks 31-36: Playoffs, with "top 3 winners" of each previous week (taped as 6th episode each week) Weeks 37-38: Quarter-finals, with winners of each show from Weeks 31-36 competing Week 39 M-W: Semi-finals, with top 9 winners of weeks 37 & 38 competing Week 39 T-F: 2-day finals, only BR Friday, champion plays bonus round for $100K or $1m ($1m wedges picked up during finals)
Weeks 31-36 could optionally be interspersed through the season, too.

There are some pages from Jeopardy! I do believe the current show can learn to take from.
Copying Michael Davies' homework by having a nearly 10-week postseason is not one of them. I prefer returning champions because it has direct continuity and is easier to understand, but locking yourself in that way kills off all team weeks, requires recall of contestants who won one game seven months prior, and overall shifts too much focus on "Who wins the Prize Puzzle/ got an easier Bonus Round puzzle" instead of any skill a luck-based game can have.

Davies needs to understand that maybe there is a reason why game shows don't do postseasons. That's one reason why I realized that maybe he wasn't the best solution to the Mike Richards problem.
