PHRASE |
Patti solves A FLAIR FOR THE DRAMATIC just ahead of the buzzer. After a cut to Pat, her solve is confirmed to be in time.
In-studio, Pat still suggest that the scores are tentative, but Bryan is the winner regardless of score changes (Jaryd still would've lost by only $50 on the final consonant).
Bryan | Patti | Jaryd (...) |
$18,000 | $12,500 | $11,950 |
A better spin than the bare minimum and an extra consonant in the Speed-Up would've been enough for Jaryd to take the Wild Card to Bonus Land.
Before the Bonus Round, Bryan will select one of three categories:

He says PHASE, but he has nothing else. He does not solve PAVED WALKWAY...
...so he's not walking out of here with the extra $40,000. Bryan is still happy with $18,000 in cash and trip.
In the final segment, Pat talks about the tendency to start an answer in the Speed-Up round...but then 90% of people stop after the buzzer sounds, and Patty wasn't one of them. Pat and Vanna insist that you don't stop. Watching.
