Although the week is not over yet, I've really enjoyed Wheel's Fan Favorites Week! It's a nice bridge between having returning champions and no returning players at all. Additionally, it covers the bases of having really strong players with those after redemption. They've brought in a really great bunch this week (and I'm not just saying that because of who is on this board) and the games have been some of the best and most high-energy of the season. If they were to do this again, who would you want to see? There's a couple of things to keep in mind with this. From what we've gathered, they did not go any later than 2010 (Caitlin Burke) and contacted those who information they still had on file. Additionally, the majority of this week's contestants have been on the show in S38+ given COVID-19 concerns and they were local. Also around S37-38, Wheel's YouTube would post "Best of" highlight reels for any memorable contestants so anybody from there is fair game. I also wouldn't rule out anybody we've seen in the Winner's Circle segments. Jonathan from S36 who lost $100k in an after-buzzer solve has been featured and he'd be a solid candidate solely for redemption. Here's the playlist I am referring to: www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN-yobvS8LE&list=PLxHI8kJg-nZAgqGHgaxmOMCnj7ttUwACZSo if Wheel made this an annual stunt, who should be brought back for future weeks?

I think it's an absolute crime that Trent Girone from my week wasn't called for the first one.

MarioGS got brought up a few times from the crowd, as did eybyon and alexb1186 . wheelmasterdave was mentioned a few times, although he was the alternate for this week so if they do actually do the theme again they'd most likely have him back to play "for real" this time. A few other names I can't remember right now were brought up, some going as far back as the Woolery era, which would be fun to see if the show acknowledged it. I suspect a few S41 contestants would pop up (and if a few people I know in the pool get the call, they'd likely be shoo-ins) since they picked a lot of recent contestants. I'd love to see them dig into the vault, I'm sure a lot of former contestants would gladly send in updated contact information if the show sent out a call for them.

I agree about Trent, and I have several other people I'd nominate. I'll post them later because I keep forgetting to write them down, but one of them is Kelly Vaught. He's still around and he holds the record of most WOF appearances with eight. No reason they can't go further back then 2010.
I know of two people who were invited but couldn't do it because the tape date kept changing and they were given very short notice in the end (a week and a half I want to say?): Rufus Cumberlander (CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH, Season 32) and Taya Somes (A PLACE LIKE NO OTHER, Season 37).
I think it's great that people were invited for varying reasons, but because of this, I'd like to see future installments be at least two weeks. Maybe one week for big winners and fast solvers and the other as a redemption week.
I was not invited, but even if I was, I might not have been able to do it because of the short notice. Emil messaged me immediately after he got his invitation asking if I got it too, and said that they were given two potential days (March 10 or 31) it could tape and nothing was set in stone yet. The first of those two potential tape dates was my 30th birthday, too! I also might have been forced to decline because of personal reasons that I don't really want to get into, and I can't guarantee that that wouldn't be an obstacle if I was invited next time, but I'd probably just suck it up, especially if it's Pat and Vanna's last season.

There's few names that I have in mind for people that should be in consideration for the next Fan Favorites. First one was a name I know we brought up and did manage to sweep his episode (even if he didn't solve his bonus round), "LONE RANGER" Matt from 12/26/2014, he played a great game, won a ton of money, and that solve has stayed in the clips. Secondly, want to bring up two names that we heard in consideration for this week that didn't end up being there that week. Brenda from 11/9/2016, who was one of the most energetic and charming performances on the show and would light up any crowd. I know some people didn't like the mention of him, but I gotta bring up Julian from 4/11/2014. Yes, his appearance is more infamous than famous, but he was a big viral moment for the show and there was a lot of exposure from his appearance, so I think it would be a positive if there were able to get him back to do another episode. Those are the big names I could think of off the top of my head, but I'd also be game for seeing some more matchups like the sweep one we got. Bring back 3 100K winners and have them go against each other. My mind went to Latoya, Scott, and Eric, but honestly? Do the 3 back-to-back-to-back winners from last year and have them together, that would be awesome. Couple other ideas, bring back the men from the Kelly Ripa episode, or the people from the Horse Incident. There's a lot of good ideas to choose from and I could keep going, but that's a pretty solid selection of people among the ones not mentioned yet. I'll bring up one more name who may not be a fan favorite, but definitely deserves a second chance because he barely got play the Wheel and could use a chance to redeem himself and show off his stuff and that's Mike from 1/12/2016. Got one of the wheel, landed on Bankrupt, and that was it. I think that's worthy of a redemption, even if he's not the most well known player.

Maybe one week for big winners and fast solvers and the other as a redemption week. Wheel definitely should consider a second chance week, especially with Jeopardy starting to do a second chance tournament. At least we got one contestant on Fan Favorites that fit into that description. I wonder what Raymond Taylor is up to nowadays

I wonder what Raymond Taylor is up to nowadays As I said in the initial post, this is Wheel’s way of lumping those worthy of a second chance/redemption and those who played really well into one week. It’s a really smart idea since being “good” at Wheel is such a subjective thing given how much luck goes into the game. Also, Raymond Taylor was banned from the Sony lot in 1997 after a stalking incident on Wheel’s set.

One aspect of returning contestants that just occurred to me..
For those who don’t know, Wheel was once considering bringing back the 3 $1M for a special exhibition game which came form the suggestion of one of the three when they attended a taping a few years after their win. The idea gained some legs but unfortunately one of the other millionaires declined for some unknown reason. I’m not using names because I don’t know whose idea it was and who said no but worth knowing the concept of having all three back has been considered. This also wouldn’t have been on nearly the same scale as J!GOAT in terms of a championship status sort of thing, but more of the games we’ve seen in the past week.
This info came out after J!GOAT from Jim at a taping shortly pre-covid and it seems like this would’ve happened before 2020. Also, this would’ve happened under Harry’s watch, meaning he was on board with the idea in spite of returning contestants/champions being in the rearview for ~20 years by that point.

Far as I know that was Harry's idea, as seemingly as a split, one-off series, similar to how J! GOAT was handled. A really good idea too!

I'd nominate Amy Higgins and Kevan Kolander from my taping crew (Great Outdoors, 2022).
Amy wore the ruby slippers from Wizard of Oz and had a remarkable comeback to win after calling two previously called letters.
Kevan was an all-around funny guy. He had a comical response when he buzzed in on a toss-up without having anything to say.

I knew I was forgetting someone recent: Heidi Buchanan. They still use her in promotional material. She's in LA so maybe she was asked and couldn't do it.

This might be a deeper cut, but I stumbled upon this contestant interview clip from S39 who all had…. “unusual” hobbies: youtu.be/W6eZrZ2V3IMThe game itself wasn’t anything to write home about besides all three finishing in 5 figures, but the contestants itself were enormously entertaining which seems to be the main parameter for this kind of week winnings aside. I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Kevin from S34’s STREETCAR incident or Hans/Christine from the HOMEMADE MUFFINS fiasco. I believe Hans lives in LA and has done a bevy of game shows in the past year or two alone (People Puzzler, 25WOL, TPIRAN) and would definitely jump at the chance to do another.

Having spoken to several S40 Fan Favorites players last summer, I have it on good authority that Brenda was asked, but had to decline because of a schedule conflict. Julian was also asked, but declined. Nobody could remember who the second alternate was, but it was a man named either Andy or Anthony.

I think I got an e-mail from the EP months ago, but don't quote me on that as I wouldn't have been available at the time, anyways. I remember changing phone numbers after my episode aired, which might explain why I didn't get a call from the show.
