Hey everyone! Hope you're all having a good summer. As you all may have seen, two of our primary recap guides for the past three years, mechamind and logicman27 have stepped down. I am still waiting to hear from genius2751 regarding his status but chances are high we will probably need someone to be recap guide for at least a couple days per week.
I thank logicman27 and mechamind for their two years of service. They stepped in and made "recapping by committee" into a highly efficient process, frequently subbing for each other when needed. They will be missed. Recapping is not an easy job, as it requires intense attention to detail, but they made it look easy.
As such, we need new Recap Guides! If you think you have the skills and ability to recap episodes of first-round Wheel of Fortune for us in Season 41 and beyond, perhaps you could be our next recapper! I encourage people who are interested to PM me, but before you do so, please read the following requirements:
-You must be able to effectively and clearly communicate, and provide in detail a recap of the day's show. mechamind was gracious enough to provide recap templates for just about every scenario that can come up in a Wheel of Fortune episode (you can view them here at this link), and you can feel free to use those if you like. You can also use an entirely different format, but whichever format you use must be clear and concise and easy to follow.
-You must be able to commit to recap at least one episode EVERY week all season (39 weeks worth!) We reserve the right to not consider applicants who cannot make this commitment. The ideal candidate will commit to doing at least two full seasons' worth of recaps; preferably more, but two at a minimum.
-You must be an active member of Buy a Vowel Boards in good standing as of 08/21/2023. The ideal candidate will have been a member for at least a year, but exceptions can be made based on a user's contributions to the site and the community as a whole.
-Professionalism is an absolute must. We strive to be a top source for information for past and future contestants alike, and as such, we have high standards for overall presentation of recaps. We understand typos happen but there must be at least an effort made to use proper English.
-Finally, the person chosen will have limited moderation rights in the recap section, including the ability to edit and delete posts. As such, we must be able to trust you to lead in a manner consistent with the values of this site and of the community.
If you meet all of the requirements and are interested in being our next Recap Guide, send me a PM expressing interest. If you've contributed recaps of old episodes to the site, please link me to at least one of them that you feel exhibits the quality that your first-run recaps would be; otherwise, I will send you a link to a random episode (that Sony hasn't pulled off Youtube at least) and have you recap it for me as an "audition" of sorts.
Happy recapping! I look forward to the new season starting in just a few weeks.
