I attended Wheel of Fortune Live at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, NJ last night and it was a very fun show! The set was quite small since the stage there is pretty small, and they didn't have the WoF logo behind the contestants. Mark Wahlberg was very good hosting other than a couple of hiccups (like having the contestant spin to start the round before the puzzle was on the board), and I got to meet him for a minute after the show and took a picture with him! A woman told him he should host instead of Ryan Seacrest since he's funny and Ryan isn't.
Interestingly, the first person to be picked to play for a door prize (a Wheel of Fortune coffee mug, there was also a coaster set and t-shirts available) said he was actually on the TV show a month ago which will air at a later date.
There were two full games played with three contestants called from the audience for each, with the two winners advancing to the championship game. For the championship game, a third person is called to play. The wheel had the Express wedge on for each round along with prize tags (one was a dinner and a movie gift card, I forget the other one), and each contestant who hit it took the Express but Bankrupted with a wrong letter call. During the championship game, they add on the Mystery wedges, a prize wedge (a trip to Las Vegas), and all of the top dollar values are on the wheel together ($1,500, $2,500, $3,500 and $5,000). In the championship game, one player had over 11,000 points but hit Lose a Turn, and then when it came back to him, he called a wrong letter. The crowd got really into everything the whole time. The contestant that made it to the bonus round ended up winning the game by just 50 points. Each game winner won $200, with an audience member selected to also win. This is paid in cash at the end of the show.
For the bonus round, the top prizes were $5,000 or a trip to Paris. They select an audience member who also wins the prize if the bonus puzzle is solved -- and I was selected!! The contestant chose Place, and with the RSTLNE and his letters only two letters showed. He was able to solve, so he and I won an entertainment package consisting of a 50" TV and Playstation 5 worth a little over $1,000!! So it wasn't $5,000 or Paris, but still a great prize!
So overall, it was a great experience, and even if I didn't win it's definitely enjoyable!
