I'm really happy for Matt. He played the game very well (X in the Bonus Round, and Thing(s) gets its first primetime win?!) and I can't believe we've already had three double Bonus Round winners this season.

However, I can't let go of the fact that he said some very hurtful things about Wheel on his podcast in 2021:

Wheel of Fortune. This is a stupid game. First of all, there's no skill involved. And even if there were, no one that they case has an ounce of it. They spin the ... Wheel, it lands on Bankrupt eight out of ten times. It's so ... boring. And then they look up at the Wheel. It says it's "G_AT", the word is "GOAT", and they go, "I'd like to solve: GLAT." It's like, "What are you ... talking about?"

Also, stop buying vowels every 30 seconds. You're losing money. Guess C. C is in every word. If you have a T up there, Mama, guess H. If there's a Q, that's when you buy a U. These idiots are guessing R every 15 seconds. ... They are fools. You don't need any skill involved.

Jeopardy! is the real game. They need to give Vanna a bigger role. Pat Sajak sucks ...

Even if his opinion changed, hence why he even agreed to going on Wheel, it would be nice to hear exactly what changed his opinion, or at least an apology. Wheel's lucky they didn't know about this. If I were Bellamie, I would have forced him to apologize and/or delete the rant, and if he refused, confront him about it on the show by playing the clip during one of the interviews. I would never stand for someone using a public forum to slander my show, its fans, or its personnel. If he still thinks Pat Sajak sucks, he did a good job of being civil with him.

Also, the fact that he got the majority of the Toss-Ups, and many of them fairly quickly (he beat me on at least one of them, and I had BASS on TTU3B as well), disproves his remark that there's "no skill involved". I do find it funny that his remark about "C in every word" ended up being true in one of the puzzles he solved, and he even called the C's.

And Paula was hilarious. I kept forgetting Lil Rel was there. This episode was miles better than last year's special. The only good things about that one was Jack Black's energy and the red Wheel base, which I wish they kept here and on syndie this year.

Paula's "scream solve" in Game 2 as shown in the recap was exactly how the closed captioning transcribed it. Also worth nothing that in the second BR, Matt called the I first (IFPX).

Even with the messy rounds, Matt played well and cleaned up! 👏🏾

The easy second Bonus Round puzzle was a gift (pun intended) given the category, and a $100,000 win on top of that?! Paula and Rel were hilarious as well; while I loved seeing Paula’s dance moves, I felt bad for Rel’s misfortune in the second half.

I no-lettered Round 2 in the first game and Round 1 and the first Triple Toss-Up of the second game.

My ratings: 7 and 9
