When I was making the category chyron functionality for my puzzle board app, I was wondering if there was any system or pattern to the chyron colors used for the logo, categories, and prize amounts in Classic WoF (1986-1998). After staring at a few episodes and sampling colors to add to my app, I figured it out, and I couldn't believe it. I scanned through dozens of episodes to verify:
The Chyron colors, with few exceptions, match Vanna's outfit color, unless she is wearing a neutral shade like white, grey, black, silver, etc. If she is wearing a neutral shade, the color usually defaults to red or pink.
That's it. That's the system.
