I'm finalizing my plan on what to make for Layout B to accommodate changes through the years, and I came across a bit of chaos regarding a Lime 900 wedge that temporarily appeared in Season 4.
"This was from the 4th nighttime season. Germanname told me he saw an episode from early 1987, where the orange $900 was over the orange $200 next to the red $500, while a lime $900, used in the show's 2nd nighttime season, was over the other orange $200. So, here you go."
I did indeed find two episodes that had a Lime 900 over the Gamboge 900: S4-E681 1987-01-26 Maggie/Faye/Scott S4-E688 1987-02-04 Dan/Judi/Bonnie
Strangely enough, [S4-E686 1987-02-03 Susanne/Rosemarie/Shauna] in between the two had the normal layout.
It appears that the rest of the episodes in the range E672-E702 are completely missing in action (not in our puzzles list). E671 and E703 appear to have the normal layout.
Do we know which episode(s) featured the Gamboge 900 covering the Gamboge 200, in addition to having the Lime 900 over the Gamboge 900?
Thanks!

Thinking more about why on Earth they would have covered a wedge with an add-on of the same value but of a color that at the time was off-brand save for prizes, for just a small number of episodes, my best guess is that the wedge on the base layout was damaged somehow during taping, and the add-on Lime 900 was handy as a quick patch.
Admittedly pure conjecture, probably but one of many scenarios that covers what can be observed on-camera.

As I later found out after first seeing it in mid-late March 2011, the case of the three $900 spaces (gamboge, yellow, and lime) on the same layout for Rounds 2 and 3 was actually from September 29, 1987 (Sandy, Mark, Jim), just weeks into Season 5 and less than a week before the cash format began. If I'm correct, the episode can still be seen on-demand on Wheel's channel on Pluto TV.

That $900 changed colors a couple of times. It was gambooge, then temporarily lime, then orange, and then pink. That space never changed in value though until 2015 when it was reduced to $600. And, the other gambooge $200 went from $200, to $900 in some episodes, then back to $200, then became a orange $250 in 1996, then to $800 in 1999, and then $650 in 2015?
