Unfortunately episodes are DRM protected, for now I can show some pictures from various episodes.
This edition of the game goes mostly by American rules with one big difference: THE BANKRUPT WIPES OUT EVERYTHING WON UP TO THAT POINT INCLUDING WINNINGS FROM PREVIOUS ROUNDS
Only the winner takes home their winnings and will return the next day to win more! The returning champion always takes the center position.
There are 5 regular rounds with a €1000 toss-up before round 1, a triple €1000 toss-up before round 4 (€5000 for the sweep) and a €1500 toss-up before round 5. Vowels are €250 (unlimited purchasing) and the house minimum is €500.
A nice touch is that some rounds are themed. For instance, all the toss-ups in an episode are about one region of Italy. Just by chance, here's one about my region
Round 1 is generic (no theme). Here's the wheel. Top value is €1000 (€1500 in R2, €2000 in R3, €2500 in R4 and €5000 in R5) The "Extra Coupon" is the Wild Card, the Gift Tag awards an unspecified amount of the advertised product and the Bankrupt/Double/Bankrupt doubles the value of the bonus round envelope.
Round 2 is about music
Round 3 is about myths, folklore and legends and it's the Mystery Round as well. The Mystery prize is €5000.
Round 4 is the Express Round (any subject)
Round 5 is, you would never have guessed, the Last Round. If time expires, good Gerry will give the wheel a final spin and add €1000 to that, unless he nails the big €5000.
He got it! That's one happy host!
The bonus round works like in the Enrico Papi version. No choice of subject and only 3 consonants and 1 vowel in the free package. The bonus round is comically cheap (as low as €1000 up to maybe €7500) but one envelope has a nice €25900 SUV.
Another fun feature is that the model sometimes fires a multiple choice question at the host, whose batting average is not all that good.
The ratings so far are impressive, I believe there will be more Ruota in the future, hopefully with more balanced gameplay.

thanks for the info, celetheref
that post will REALLY come in handy when it comes to recreating the layouts (though i'll probably use the US/English counterparts for the most part)

Gerry has had enough of bankrupts! From the USA themed episode: THE ROCKY MONUMENT VALLEY And here it is Background for the "sea" episode, with matching blue board And for the "jungle" episode ("Hey, there's a tiger behind you!" )

Is the US version the only version that still doesn't display scores of zero on the scoreboards?

Season 20 of Ruota is in the books. Waiting for season 21, here are some stats:
Contestants won a total of €395,000 in cash and prizes Just 20% of that came from the bonus round (12 W - 16 L); the top prize (the SUV) was won twice and lost once. The biggest single-day maingame win was €29,050; the smallest €4,550 Gerry landed on the €5,000 three times on his Final Spin (in one episode the puzzle was solved before the bell) Samira asked Gerry 56 questions, he answered correctly to 26 of them (.464)
Among the new (for Italy) features, the Wild Card was the most popular: it was taken to the bonus round a good number of times, including in the final episode. The Mystery wedge was also popular but it was won only once. The Express was avoided like the plague (landed on twice, none took it).

The Free Spin is back! (renamed The Gerry Joker) Sorry for speaking in a dead thread. In speaking of the Gerry Joker, according to some episodes of the fall season, it looks like the Gerry Joker is a combination of the Free Spin token and Portugal’s Devil token. In other words, the Gerry Joker acts exactly like the Free Spin token but if you go bankrupt you can use the Gerry Joker to keep your turn AND your current round score, yes even your winnings from previous rounds. I think this is it.

I was on vacation in Italy last September and I was able to watch a couple episodes. I was floored that this version has returning champions, though on one of the eps I saw, the returning champion was the red player and she stayed at red the next day, so it looks like the champs stay in their same spot throughout their run. I did see the "peeking letters" Toss-Up from Spain done, and I didn't notice that Bankrupt affects total score as well (unless it doesn't anymore?)

The only rule change I notice is that the Bankrupt/Double/Bankrupt wedge now doubles the player's current round score (not the bonus round prize)

The Express was avoided like the plague (landed on twice, none took it). Yeah and because of this, it looks like for this fall season there’s an 2nd Express wedge added to the wheel, it was probably avoided so much in the 1st season because it was next to a Passamano/Lose a Turn and no one took it because of the fear of going bankrupt, since bankrupt clears everything won throughout the game up to that point unlike in the previous Italian versions.

Oh, and according to the Italian Wikipedia, you’re forced to hop on the Express when you land on one of those wedges this season. I mean yes, Express decreases your risk of going bankrupt since you don’t have to worry have to worry about spinning one and everyone should just hop on, but in a case where you lose ALL you banked earnings with just 1 wrong letter (Unless, like I said, you have the Gerry Joker) no, it should be a option if they want to hop on the Express, not be forced.

Forced before the letter call, or after a correct letter? I'm worried it's before.

Forced before the letter call, or after a correct letter? I'm worried it's before. According to a few episodes, It looks like before the letter was called when landed, the express bed immediately played, then the current player camera shrunk to a square border on near the bottom right corner, the rest of the screen showing the puzzle board (similar to the u.s), and a express strip was shown on the top left showing the players round earnings. I might be wrong on some stuff I said though. Sorry for my little rant about this.

Ouch. You certainly had a good reason for ranting, no apology needed.
