Just wanted to share, and maybe get some confirmation, on some memories my mother told me about early Wheel...possibly '75. "The woman was at least 5'5'', and had blonde hair and was the champion for well over a week. Chuck Woolery kept teasing her about and asking her how many times that she had been engaged, and she had on a fur coat during one of the episodes that she had just bought (Chuck also teased her about this, as she bought quite a few)."She doesn't recall what year it was, but when I mentioned Buy A Vowel she said that it was definitely on the Wheel while this woman was on, which means that it was from the earliest part of the run. My mother also thinks that there was an "unlimited championship" rule in place, and that the color-coded eggcrates were in use. ==== She also says there was a contestant (at some point during the Woolery era) that refused to buy anything and put about $2,000 "On Account"...then lost it all to Bankrupt. She further said that there was another person who did the exact same thing, but ended up winning every single round. Thanks for any help you might have.

The eggcrates were indeed in place during the Woolery era and continued to be used through the end of the 2001-02 season on the syndicated version. However, there has never been an unlimited championship rule in place. It used to be that you could stay on for up to five days, then they changed it to a maximum of three days. If I recall, when the syndicated Wheel had returning champions from 1989 to 1996, the syndicated version also had a three day limit for champions.

I said the color-coded eggcrates, Mark -- red color for the red arrow, etc. My mother says that the lady she recalls might have been on for just five days, but her appearance sticks out so much. Why did you assume that I haven't watched the Woolery episodes I added to the Video Collection? I know when the eggcrates went out, but I've only ever seen the color-coded set on the Milton-Bradley home games. Thanks for your help.

Well, I never seen an episode with the color-coded displays, but I have evidence in the form of a 1975 Milton and Bradley game, which had the red podium lit up with $385 in red eggcreate lights. Even so if you have some of these episodes from 1975, there are gonna be a lot of people, and I mean a LOT, who will want to see them. I am definitely one of those people. I've been desperate, along with many others such as Mike Slesinski, another WOF artist, who have been trying to find layouts from 1975, and I know two of them, both of them being round one layouts. One is from when the show premiered, and one where they increased the smallest value to $100 later that year, but still has the Buy a Vowel space on it. That layout is courtesy of the 1975 game from Milton and Bradley.

Trust me, if I had any 1970s-90s episodes, I'd post them. The earliest I have is April Fool's Day 2005. That layout [with $100 as the minimum] is courtesy of the 1975 game from Milton-Bradley. I thought Buy A Vowel and $25/$50/$75 all went at once, but the latter clearly was gone before anything else. Odd.
