10/16 Result - Do the Cardinals win the NLCS?
The answer to that question is...YES! They won a slugfest over the BREWERS w/ a final score of 12-6. That's their 18th pennant win in NL history. They will be facing the Rangers in the World Series starting this Wednesday.
Like gameshowguy2000, I'm rooting for the Rangers to win it all.

I think this will be a great series regardless of who wins. My Cards are red-hot coming off the wins against Philly and the Brew Crew, but Texas is hungry for their first championship, especially after their defeat at the hands of the Giants last year. So I'm going Cards in 6, but this is going to be a strong competitive series that could go either way in the end.

10/19/11 Result
The first game of the WS in St. Louis was a good one as the CARDINALS defeat the Rangers w/ a final score of 3-2. Allen Craig scored the winning run in the bottom of sixth. It was a single to right that allowed David Freese to reach home plate.
Game 2 is on tonight.

10/20/11 Result
Last night's game was pretty quiet until the 7th inning. The CARDINALS' Allen Craig singled to right, allowing David Freese to scored. But they would blow the lead b/c of back-to-back sac flys by the Rangers' Josh Hamilton and Michael Young in the 9th. Rangers won w/ a final score of 2-1 (Series Tied 1-1).
It was a great duel by the starting pitchers Jaime Garcia (lasted 7 innings) and Colby Lewis (lasted 6 2/3 innings but was charged with that run by Craig). Both of them had a No Decision.
Game 3 of the WS continues tomorrow.

10/22/11 Result
Now this was an action-packed night in Arlington, TX.
The Cardinals hammered the RANGERS w/ a final score of 16-7.
Early on, Allen Craig hit a solo home run off Matt Harrison. In the top of the 4th, most of the run production started w/ a blown double play call by 1B umpire Ron Kulpa. David Freese hit an RBI double to score Matt Holliday. A little later, Mike Napoli committed one of three Rangers fielding errors on 1st, allowing Lance Berkman and Freese to score. Jon Jay would advance to 2nd. Then, Ryan Theriot singled to score catcher Yadier Molina. They would score again the rest of the nine innings.
Also, this was a historical night -- Albert Pujols, a three-time NL MVP, joined Babe Ruth and Reggie Jackson for the most home runs in a game (3).
Right now, Game 4 of the WS is on. I will have the result tomorrow.

10/24/11 Result
The RANGERS are one win away from their first WS as they beat the Cardinals 4-2 (Rangers lead series 3-2). Here's how it all went down.
-First, the Cardinals' Yadier Molina hit an RBI single to left, scoring Matt Holliday. L. Berkman went to third after David Murphy committed one of two Rangers errors of the game.
-The Rangers tied the game at 2 apiece w/ solo shots by Mitch Moreland (3rd) and Adrian Beltre (6th).
-Finally, Mike Napoli became a hero. He hit an RBI double to deep right center, scoring both Michael Young and Nelson Cruz.
The Rangers can wrap it up tomorrow in St. Louis.

10/27/11 Result
I believe you were stunned at the result of last night were you, Wayoshi?
Well, this Game 6 of the World can be remembered for some sloppy defense but then it was very thrilling in the late innings. The final score?...10-9 victory by the CARDINALS. Here's the scoring rundown...
-To begin, Josh Hamilton singled to right scoring Ian Kinsler. Lance Berkman hit a 2-run shot off Colby Lewis. -In the 2nd, Kinsler hits a ground rule double to deep center scoring Craig Gentry (score tied at 2 apiece) -In the 4th, catcher Mike Napoli singled to shallow right, allowing Nelson Cruz to score (Texas 3-2) -Bottom of the inning: Yadier Molina grounded out but scored Lance Berkman (tied again 3-3). -Top of the 5th: Michael Young doubled off Fernando Salas, scoring Hamilton (Texas 4-3). -Bottom of the 6th: Alexei Ogando tries to maintain the lead but gives up a walk to Yadier Molina, causing Lance Berkman to score (tied again at 4 apiece) -Top of the 7th: Adrian Beltre and Nelson Cruz hit back-to-back HRs. After that, Kinsler singles to center scoring pitcher Derek Holland. (Texas leads 7-4) -Bottom 8th: Allen Craig homers to cut the lead to 2. -Bottom 9th: Naftali Feliz comes in to try and close it out. He strikes out Ryan Theriot but he BLOWS THE LEAD by giving up a triple to the hometown kid David Freese (though he was born in Corpus Christi, TX). That allowed Berkman and Albert Pujols to score (tied at 7 apiece) -Top of the 10th: Hamilton hits a 2-run shot w/ Elvia Andrus on base to take back the lead (9-7 Texas) -Bottom of the inning: Scott Feldman tries to close it out but for the second straight inning, a relief pitcher blows the lead w/ one strike away from the big win. THeirot grounds out to third, but scores Daniel Descalso. Berkman hits one to center and scores Jon Jay (9-9). And finally...
...the hometown kid, Freese, homers for the big win in the bottom of the 11th.
Like you, Wayoshi, I was stunned at all the times both teams have been trading the lead. I was really hoping for Texas to end this series, but no.....
Now, the decisive game airs tonight w/ Matt Harrison and Chris Carpenter facing off.

I knew this was going to be a good Series, but dang! The words "instant classic" are being thrown around with respect to this game, and with good reason.
Twice my Cardinals were down to their last strike - not just last out, but last STRIKE - and twice they manage to summon the powers of the Rally Squirrel and make the comeback. You just can't count this team out yet: they came back at the end of the season to take the wild card spot, they came back to take Games 4 and 5 against the Phillies in the NLDS, and now they've come back and forced Game 7 on the biggest stage there is.
Win, lose, or draw, this game is going to be a nail-biter from the first pitch to the last swing. I'm hoping St. Louis has one more comeback left in them, but just making it this far is a lot more than anyone realistically expected of them.

10/28/11 Result - WHO WINS THE WORLD SERIES?
As jwatson said above, it's the CARDINALS w/ a final score of 6-2. Here's how it went down...
-Early on, Josh Hamilton and Michael Young each hit RBI doubles to get on the board first. Unfortunately, Rangers starter Matt Harrison gave the lead back in the bottom of the inning and in the 3rd. Hometown kid David Freese hit an RBI double to score Pujols and Berkman. Allen Craig hit a solo shot to deep right. -The bullpen didn't do much better. In the bottom of the fifth, Scott Feldman issued a walk to Yadier Molina w/ the bases loaded. Questionable call by the HP umpire Jerry Layne on a ball four. Feldman then proceeded to hit Rafael Furcal, allowing Pujols to come home. The Cardinals scored one more time in the 7th. It's a Molina single to center and scored Lance Berkman.
Scott (whammy007), I gotta hand it to you. Congratulations to you and your Cardinals on the win! It just hurts for the team that I cheered for to get so close to winning the series this past Thursday, only to fall apart in extras.
And with that, the 2011 MLB season is finished.

Great job by both teams! While it's the Cards who take the trophy, the Rangers fought the good fight to the very end. Texas should not be in any way ashamed of their efforts - even though they came up a bit short, it's admirable that they were able to bounce back early in Game 7 after the heartbreaker the previous night.
The champagne will flow in St. Louis this year, but keep the faith, Ranger fans - yours is a great club and you can look forward to more deep playoff runs in the seasons to come!

I got to give the Rangers credit. They fought all the way to the end and they did well getting this far. Unfortunately, they didn't get the job done.

I gotta hand the credit to the managers of the two teams...good managing is what makes a good team. Yes good batters will make a good team (Cards' Pujols, Freese, Berkman and Rangers' Napoli, Hamilton, and Kinsler), but so do good managers in Ron Washington and La Russa.
