Wheel of Fortune Recap: 9/19/1989

I think I'll stick with Season 7 for now and this time, it's the show exactly 22 years before the Season 29 premiere.

Things have calmed down since the Season Premiere, but there's still over $142,000 waiting to be won tonight and I'm sure these three contestants are just waiting to win it!

Jill Longmire: She has quite a job... she does government defense work as a systems analyst and in her spare time, she enjoys golf, tennis, and skiing.
Rona Goldberg: Rona's a manager of pharmaceutical sales.
Brent Lanchard: The (assumably 1-day) champion with $57,450 cash and prizes!

Onto Round 1 now.



On the wheel is a $1,000 wedge along with a Bankrupt and these three players are playing for cash. The first puzzle is Things.



Jill gets to start, but after calling a $400 S, she hits Lose a Turn. Rona gets to spin... but misses with an R on $150. After racking up some money, he misses with a C on the red $200. After some more work, Jill lands on Lose a Turn again! Rona spins again, but misses with a G on the pink $250. Brent spins... but misses with a D on the purple $200. Jill controls the rest of the round...



And is able to solve PHOTOS IN THE FAMILY ALBUM for $3,700 cash!

Now the $2,500 wedge is on the wheel and joining it is a projection television with intelligent remote controls, surround sound, on screen display, and it is furnished in oak and hard wood, a $3,200 TV (marked TV on wheel)! And Rona gets to have a Phrase, a hyphenated one.



Rona gets to spin, but her third one is a Bankrupt, forcing her to give away her $1,000. Two spins later, Brent duds with an N while on the blue $300. And then two spins later, Jill calls a bad M on the other $150. And right after that, Rona hits Lose a Turn. After putting the Fs up there, Brent wants to solve.



It isn't exactly his LAST-DITCH EFFORT, but he is right for $2,000!

The $3,500 wedge is still on the wheel for this round, but there's a $9,600 ring on the wheel, with diamonds and emeralds on it (marked RING on the wheel). And Jill gets to start the round with... a Person. (yay, not a Phrase!)



Jill starts this round and does not give her turn away, as she lands on the Ring right before solving...



And she's successful with JIMMY STEWART, putting her over $15,000!

There's time for Round 5, and there's also time for a $5,000 wedge to be placed on the wheel. The category for the next round is Place.



The beginning of the round was cut off, but Rona started the round, landed on purple $350, and what she called was cut off, but after the cut off part, the puzzle was still blank and it was Brent's turn, so it was an unknown dud. But Brent's turn doesn't last long as he duds with an S on the red $800. Play goes to Jill, who lands on the pink $200, but can't have a D. Rona lands on the same spot, but can't have an L. Brent lands on the pink $600, but there aren't any Ts! After that, Jill calls for an N... and there are two! But then she lands on the orange $900, calls a bad M. Rona immediately Bankrupts after that. Brent then gets a few more letters up there and the bells call for a Final Spin. Pat gives the wheel a final spin and it lands on $5,000! Brent puts up a $5,000 B...



And he is going to solve, BEIJING CHINA for $6,300! But not enough for the win.

Jill is the champion for today, $16,000, cash and ring! The envelope she picked was cut off (unfortunately), so it's right to the puzzle which is a Phrase. (not again...)

Quite a generous amount. She goes on to pick BCDA, the first four letters of thealphabet and there are...



Not much help. However...



She quickly solves BLOW OVER and wins... the cash! Twenty-five thouuuuuuuuuuusand dollars is added to her total, $41,000 on day one and she will return on the next episode!
