I'm ready to do another Daytime Wheel recap in... well, daytime!
-----------------------------------------
Look at this studio, filled with cash and prizes CBS didn't touch! Including... a $7,000 cash Jackpot! Rest and relax in a new bedroom! A pair of charming $3,700 earrings! And... a fully equipped camping trailer! Over $84,000 just waiting to be won this morning... on Daytime Wheel of Fortune with Good Ol' NBC! These are the contestants whose gameplay you will be viewing today, three new players since the returning champion was undefeated and retired.
Randy Schneider (female): She's a volunteer for a Junior High School.
Robin Butlin: A student at the University of Virginia studying... foreign affairs?
Jim Davis: A restaurant manager whose restaurant is not that far from the studio... an hour and a half away.
And these three players are now here to win considerably less than the Nighttime version!
And this is the Daytime version, so no $1,000 wedge, but there is a $750 wedge as the top dollar this round and there's a Bankrupt neighboring it, no one wants that... well, except for Diane.
Anyway, here's the first puzzle, the category is Person:
And it's a very small puzzle, very, very little. Randy gets to spin first, but her first spin... ends up on Bankrupt. Robin spins her first spin of the night and it hits $750! But there aren't any Ts up there for her to cash in big. Jim then spins the wheel, but can't find an S. So far, three consecutive turns were lost, can it get better? Not yet, since Randy landed on the blue $500 and called a dud R. Robin then takes her second spin... which lands on $750! And her letter pick is a bad L. One spin later, Jim puts up the first letter of the day, an N! But then he duds with a G on the next spin. Randy gets to spin and she calls a dud D! Robin then puts up a $400 M, but makes the mistake of buying E. Over to Jim, who lands on the orange $400 and calls a bad K. So far, EIGHT duds have been called this round! And on the red $400, Randy makes it nine with a W! After that, Robin makes it ten, by calling a B! Only two letters up on the puzzle so far, no one can afford a vowel, and no one knows what it is. Jim then FINALLY puts another consonant in there, but doesn't buy a vowel, he spins. And that turns out to be a bad move... he lands on the orange $200 and makes the eleventh dud, a P. Randy makes the dud count go up go twelve with an F on the pink $100! After landing on the red $300, we have our thirteenth dud in this round, since there are no Ys! Jim then decides to buy a vowel to try and get out of this... and he's successful with two Is! And then he spins again and fills in the rest of the consonants with an H! But after all of that...
He makes a MISSOLVE, saying HO CHY MINE, pronunciated like that. Randy is then able to solve, well, she has to since she can't afford a vowel, HO CHI MINH for... the $200 house minimum which means she has just enough to buy the ceramic dalmatian, which she happily accepts!
Purchases:
Ceramic Dalmatian - $154
$46 on a Gift Certificate
Randy: $200
Robin:
Jim:
ROUND OF DUDS STRIKES AGAIN
Bankrupts: 1 (Randy - $0)
Lose a Turns: 0
Duds: 13 (Randy (4) - R, D, W, F - all with $0), (Robin (5) - T, L, E, B, Y - $0, $0, $150, $150, $150), (Jim (4) - S, G, K, P - $0, $150, $150, $650)
Missolves: 1 (Jim - "HO CHY MINE" - $850)
It's the first part of Round 2, and there's a $1,000 wedge for someone to hit and here comes the next puzzle, it's a Phrase.
Robin starts us off with a pair of Ts, but then calls a dud S. Jim spins and calls FOUR Ns, but only on $150. After buying a vowel, he calls the fifeenth dud today, an R on $700. Play goes over to Randy, but she won't be doing any spinning until after the break.
Take a look at what these players have been up to during Part 1.
Randy: $0
Robin: $1,000
Jim: $350
Bankrupts: 0
Lose a Turns: 0
Duds: 2 (Robin - S - $1,000), (Jim - R - $350)
Missolves: 0
Part 2 of Round 2 is here and Jim called a dud, so its Randy's turn. But Randy's turn doesn't last for long, as she calls another dud, a D on the purple $250. And Robin calls yet another dud, an L on the blue $250! After some work by Jim...
He BLOWS another solve with GOING OUT ON A TANGENT. This might've been a costly mistake. For now, it's Randy's turn again...
She goes for the Fs before solving GOING OFF ON A TANGENT for $400 to spend in the bedroom.
Purchases:
Nightstand - $395
$5 on a Gift Certificate
Randy: $600
Robin:
Jim: Doesn't know how to play this game correctly.
Bankrupts: 0
Lose a Turns: 0
Duds: 4 (Randy - D - $0), (Robin (2) - S, L - both with $1,000), (Jim - R - $350)
Missolves: 1 (Jim - GOING OUT ON A TANGENT - $2,550)
So far, this has been a VERY low scoring game and also a game of duds, but there's a $2,000 wedge and a $1,500 wedge to hopefully solve this problem! Also joining them are the Jackpot wedge, where if you land on it, you pick it up, and if you can solve the puzzle, you get $7,000 in money! Not a bad deal! But for this to happen, we need a puzzle, and the puzzle is a large Things.
Jim manages to control a good portion of this round, but Pat starts speedup in the middle of it, so the Jackpot can't be won tonight. And all Pat can get is $200. Jim squeezes in another dud before Randy tries to solve...
...and she is successful, SATIN SHEETS AND PILLOWCASES for a weak $400 to spend in the living room.
Purchases:
Drapery - $400
Randy: $1,000
Robin: Unlucky
Jim: Unlucky & Unimpressive
Bankrupts: 0
Lose a Turns: 0
Duds: 1 (Jim - R - $5,350)
Missolves: 0
And after a very low scoring game today, hopefully there will be a Bonus Round win today. And Randy wants to go for the car, the Mazda 323 Deluxe Hatchback worth $9,932! And to win that car, she will have to solve a Person, which does not always mean Proper Name.
And for her BR picks, she chooses a non-RSTLNE combination. Her selections are RLNMSA.
That doesn't really help though... but she has fifteen seconds to try and solve...
Which she couldn't. But she will come back on the next episode with $1,000 worth of prizes and this episode only gave away one thousand dollars! Has CBS been involved here? It seems that way.
