10/7/77, 5/19/83, and 2/9/84 are the only dates I can find; though I bet it's happened more.
Throughout the late 70's and 80's, Clock Game would be played for 4-digit prizes in general, not just cars, and given a $1,000 range to bid in. I believe it phased out after 1987.

Four-digit prizes were briefly brought back in season 37, before making way for the current awkward setup.

Yeah, that too. I think they should bring back the envelope format used on the '86 Specials, personally.

Four-digit prizes were briefly brought back in season 37, before making way for the current awkward setup. It was for good reason, though. Nobody was winning with the 4-digit prices, plus when people did win the game prior to the "bonus prize" rule change, they would only win about $2500, which is awfully low for a full pricing game win. Though I would have just increased the cash bonus to $5,000 instead of offering an additional prize.

And since TPIR has this trend where individual prizes or prize packages are never less than $4,000 nowadays, that may be the reason why Clock Game's future seems to be in limbo.

I think the reason it's not getting played is because Drew's awful at hosting it. Just remember, there's been 7 skipped episodes in October, any of which could have Clock Game (though I would hope 5 of them don't ). And, going by episode order, at this point in S39, Clock Game was played twice (and again, skipped episodes...)

I can tell you with 100% certainty that this is NOT why we have not seen Clock Game yet....and yes, that does mean I do know the reason, I just cannot share it P.S. Here's a hint, it can be compared to Check Game at this point in time. (But not for the reason you'd normally think, it's definitely NOT gone for a long time, just be patient) P.P.S. You might end up being sad when/if it returns, instead of happy....

Oh no.
This had better not be what I think it is...

Translation: The clock and/or chroma-key screen (or someone being whiny/dumb/stupid) was problematic, so Clock Game's being refurbished into a (partially?) digital layout possibly reminiscent of New Price '94. See, not that hard. Also, why haven't you shared this on Golden-Road?

I can tell you that you are wrong, and that I haven't shared it on G-R because there are far too many speculation threads going on already, and I didn't want people speculating over a hint 100 million times over again

The only thing I'm getting from this is that Clock game is in a state of Hiatus similar to Check game and Credit card and maybe getting an update, or not. We, hopefully, will see this again. It could also be changing the rules so that it's compatible with 4-digit prizes regularly.
Are either of these reasons (Hiatus, compatible) why we aren't seeing Clock game?

You will see at least 2 of the aforementioned games very soon.

Your posting history on G-R doesn't show me that you have inside information. I'd rather have confirmation from John/Marc over there, anyway, but you don't seem privy to discussing this on that site.
I notice that you didn't say I was wrong on the reasoning I gave that it was withdrawn (clock and/or chroma-key screen {or someone being whiny/dumb/stupid} was problematic).
Also, what speculation threads? I'd say you'd be able to avoid the speculation by explanations, but you say you can't; further, ISTR it being stated that Richards hates Check Game.
There's a lot of things going through my head right now, chief among them being that you're afraid of Mike discovering it if you posted it there. I hope I'm wrong, though...

He was at a taping recently, as signified by his G-R signature; implying they probably played Clock Game on that show.
Now that I mention it, that show (#5663K) is one of the "guest week" shows. Great.

^Well, now I feel like a complete and utter git. I apologize, vadernader. (#5663K is the Neil Patrick Harris episode of Celebrity Week, which makes me feel so much better. )

Let's end this discussion now, okay? If vader does, indeed, have inside information, obviously he cannot tell us much. If he saw it at a recent taping, also, he cannot tell us too much. vader, this really should be posted at G-R, not here. This isn't a TPIR site. Relay your info to Marc and John and go from there. This is supposed to be a general TPIR question thread, not a speculation one. Thanks!

ugh, I didn't mean to have all this come down like this, why must you guys dig and dig and try to know everything you can, just please calm down and just be patient. Just because I was at a taping doesn't mean I've seen it. Also, WarioBarker, if you want to go into posting histories, I have a lot to say about yours....Please let's move on.
Also cu, I do realize that this is a WOF site, however, this is to be specific, a "Price is Right Questions" thread, and people were asking about clock game.......

^Okay, okay, no need to sling mud. I screwed up and jumped to conclusions, and I apologize. (And I'll be the first to admit that I'm ashamed of my posting history on G-R.)
Anyway, yes, let's move on -- for instance, what did everybody think of the "pet adoption" Showcase the other day? I thought the pups were adorable, and it was good to see a pet-adoption plug for the first time in over four years.

I was mostly just trying to get the thread back under control, and to end the mud-slinging. Back on-topic...while it was nice to have the pet adoption plug tacked onto the Showcase, the writing for said Showcase was absolutely awful.
