Daytime Wheel of Fortune: "Game Show Hosts Week" - Original Airdate 11/6/1980
Look at this studio, filled with over $53,000 in prizes to be won today on WHEEL! OF! FORTUNE!
What's this? We have a celebrity in our midst, to go with two regular players:
*Tom Kennedy*, currently hosting Password Plus - he'll be playing for audience member Art
Monty Preston, English as a Second Language teacher and father of one
Minnie Jackson, mother of four, grandmother of two
ROUND 1:
$750 is the top dollar value in our first round. Watch out for that black space, "BANKRUPT", because it takes all your cash, but not your merchandise - because once you buy a prize, it's yours to keep.

PHRASE
Tom Kennedy won the number draw, so he'll kick things off for Art... by way of LOSE A TURN. But it's an equal-opportunity wheel, and Monty gets hit for a loss of turn as well. Minnie breaks the trend by hitting $250 for FOUR T's! She buys a good pair of E's, then a bad A, so it's back to Tom. He hits a $200 B, and then FOUR $300 L's... Art gives Tom the "solve" signal, and so he will:

PHRASE
and LITTLE BY LITTLE, Tom wins Art $1,400!
Sole Dud: A (Minnie)
Lose a Turn: Tom, Monty
Art will come up by Tom and Chuck to shop in the Travel Boutique. He'll buy an Audiovox car stereo for $482, a Yashica camera for $435, MCA records and tapes for $213, and a wicker picnic basket for $100, leaving $170 for a gift certificate.
Tom (Art): $1,400
Monty: unlucky, but will start next round
Minnie: dud buyer
ROUND 2:
We bump the wheel up to $1,000 and add a second BANKRUPT to make things more interesting.

LANDMARK
Monty will commence Round 2 by calling an S but there are none. Minnie gets a couple of $300 T's before hitting $900 for the logical H and then buying FOUR E's. She works her way up to $1,750 but it's commercial time... Turn your backs please!

LANDMARK
Coming out of break, it's still Minnie's turn, and she finds a trio of $300 G's - now she'll solve:

G A T E / _ _ I D G E
LANDMARK
and THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE gets her the gold in the amount of $2,650!
Sole Dud: S (Monty)
Minnie will shop now in the Den - buying a set of gold cufflinks for $1,200, a Zenith color TV for $720, Bulova clocks for $415, and a set of crystal dishes for $350, with nothing left over. Note: I'm certain all these amounts are correct - I believe a small mistake by either Chuck or the accounting department (saying she had $350 left after the clocks instead of the correct $315) allows Minnie to overcharge by $35.
Tom (Art): $1,400
Monty: gooseegg alert
Minnie: $2,650 (plus the phantom $35)
ROUND 3:
There's both $2,000 and $1,500 spaces on the wheel now. It's Tom's last chance to make money for Art:

PERSON
Minnie has the right to spin first in this one, and she commences with a $350 L. She buys the E's before calling the dud N. Tom Kennedy will take over here as long as it takes to pick the bad G. Monty wants to make soome money in this round, and he puts up $1,000 with two S's, but there are no M's - he wastes a big $1,500 hit. Minnie has it back, and her second spin is even bigger - $2,000!... and she repeats the bad G. Tom has the wheel now - or does the wheel have him? The wheel comes out ahead - it's BANKRUPT. Monty finds an $800 R, but now it's commercial time once more... Turn your backs!

And we're back with Monty, who has $1,800, but soon he won't, because he hits BANKRUPT. Minnie tries again, and puts up a $250 K. She has $350 and wants to solve, but Chuck talks her into spinning again... and it's $2,000 again! This time, her H is good, and this time, Chuck doesn't mind her solving:

BROOKE SHIELDS would be proud - Minnie makes another $2,350!
Duds: N (Minnie), G (Tom), M (Monty)
Bankrupt: Tom (loss of turn), Monty ($1,800)
DQ: Minnie's repeated G
Minnie will take her money into the Studio (no pun intended) to shop: she buys a table and chairs for $1,520, an Elmo movie camera and projector for $800, and $30 goes on the old gift certificate.
Tom (Art): $1,400
Monty: GOOSEEGG'D
Minnie: $5,000 (plus that extra $35)
No bonus round in 1980 - it's all over and Minnie's the champ! Armed Forces Week and a celebrity week are coming right after this show, but she'll be back as a champion in two weeks or so!
