Wheel of Fortune Recap: 9/18/1989

Tonight, on Wheel of Fortune, there's a huge amount of money to be won, fabulous cah and prizes totaling over...



And these three contestants can win a great portion of that!

David John Marshant: Retired and he's from Canada!
Brent Blanchard: He's an explosives consultant. Well, he sets up seismographs and tries to keep building intact.
Bill Robinburg: He's a one-day champion with an all cash total of $33,650! He's also the President of the Plymouth Rock Lodge Cemetery.

Three men on this show, this is going to be interesting, is who will come out on top? Well, scroll bottom to find out!



Now here is Round 1, the top dollar amount is $1,000, but there's also a Bankrupt and if you hit it, you failed. The first category of the night is... a Phrase like always.



David won the draw backstage, so he starts this round, but he passes his turn to Brent by calling a dud T on the orange $400. Shortly after, Brent passes his turn to Bill after calling a dud N on that orange $400. Bill gets a turn and he BARELY makes it out of Lose a Turn, but he loses his turn anyway with an R. Back to David, who lands on the Free Spin wedge, so he earns himself a Free Spin! Which he'll probably need since this is a small puzzle. Then he lights up the second letter tonight, a D. But he duds with an L and decides to hang on to his Free Spin. Rght after that, Brent calls a bad C on the purple $400. Bill puts up the H and the E, but lands on the red $300 to call yet another dud. David gets the only consonant multiple up there before dudding again with an M. Brent then calls the Y...



...and saves us from this Round of Duds by solving WHISKED AWAY for $700.

So far, only $700 has been given away, but the $2,500 wedge can change that. But that isn't the only thing that can change it, the Fishing Trip to Hawaii valued at $3,997 can also change it! That prize is marked FISH on the wheel and all these players have to do is land on it and solve the puzzle to win it. Now, the next puzzle is Same Name, with both an apostrophe & an ampersand.



Brent starts this round and well, he ends up finishing it...

Brent has claimed this game as his own so far, but that sparkly $3,500 wedge might make it someone else's game. Albeit, to claim the money, he'd have to solve. He'd have to solve a Things puzzle.



Bill gets to start this round and gets some letter up there before bankrupting $3,100 away. Then Davd does some work and he hits Bankrupt too, that will cost him $2,550, but not his turn, thanks to that Free Spin. And it proves to be a good move...



Since he solves HOT DOG WITH MUSTARD AND PICKLES, which doesn't sound appetizing, for $2,600!

The wheel has been upgraded, there's a $5,000 wedge now on that wheel, a $1,500 wedge is right on it too, and also on it is an 18 karat yellow gold earring worth $6,850 (marked JEWEL on teh wheel)! This is an Eventful puzzle.



David starts the round and on his third spin, he escapes Lose a Turn only to lose his turn with an N. Brent gets to spin and on his first spin, he BARELY hangs on to $5,000 and gets two Rs, each worth $10,000! And just after that, the bells ring, so Pat gives it a final spin...

There are five cards available to be picked and the H card is grabbed by Brent. A puzzle has to be solved to win what's inside the envelope though and it's a Phrase.



To start him off, RSTLNE will be given.



Now he has to make a selection of three more consonants and a vowel. C, P, M, and A are chosen...



And it helps in a very big way! Looks like an easy BR win, but can he figure this out?



I'm sure he's happy to have solved SLAPHAPPY and he has won that convertible! Altogether, he has won $57,450 in cash and car and he will return on the next episode! (which I've already recapped)
