I have a question to ask Mark before I bring some news to you all. First off, if you can maybe create a section about international versions of "Wheel" sometime, Mark, that would be greatly appreciated.
Now, I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news to all you Wheel of Fortune fans, especially those who are fans of the Italian version. On Tuesday, September 8, 2009, Mike Bongiorno passed away from a heart attack while vacationing in Monte Carlo. He was 85 years old.
Mike was well known for a being host of Italy's version of "Wheel of Fortune," "La Ruota della Fortuna" from 1989 to 2003. He was also host of a show called "Pentathlon," an Italian game show which is a collaboration of several game shows, such as "Family Feud," "High Rollers," and, of course, "Wheel of Fortune."
He was a well-loving person, and we will all miss him. We love you, Mike. You've been a fantastic gentleman.
