3 years ago, the date was January 21st, 2009. The day's show was pretty standard, including a loss in the Bonus Round, of AERIAL FOOTAGE. But then, at just before 11PM EST that night, history was made. The site you read was born, by former admin Mark Liotta, starting a trend of making the site better, year-by-year. We started out rough, barely having many members or any discussion, becoming something of a gaming site in that stretch. Soon, I was brought aboard as an admin, updated the site graphics, added another gaming section. The site was getting better, but we still had too much of an emphasis on games, not enough meaty discussion. Then, I promoted my now fellow admin cu, with the intentions of making the site better, in every way: Graphics, site's future, what people would think of the site, etc. I knew I needed another admin, because my other admin at the time, was all but dormant, leaving for some serious site issues- I couldn't access the full admin panel as a result. I was dead right in my thoughts that he would be a great fit for the site- we've overtaken the Sony boards, and has been noted on Invision's game show boards a few times to note breaking news unknown to others, as well as a place to have good, serious Wheel chat. We've also gotten a great jump in popularity. This is site is what I want it to be, and I hope we can keep the GREAT work you all are doing here. Without it, I likely would've shut this site down by now. Our growth has been tremendous in the past year alone, thanks to improvements in nearly EVERY way: Recap thread posting, Wheel discussion, mod staff, graphics, you name it. A big shoutout to SuperKingT for helping with the coding, Mario for many current graphics sets; they look awesome, and cu for putting the coding in! If you don't believe me, look at how much our site look has improved, as well as member numbers and postings, this is from only 8 months ago: WOFL, June 10th, 2010Those colors look like a child's paint set just threw up if you ask me. From this, the goal is nearly complete- the perfect Wheel board, with serious discussion, no nonsense. You are the ones who do the good work here; don't become like many sites who have decreased in quality. let's be the trend breakers, the exception to the rule, the fine wine; getting only better as we age. With that, here's to breaking 1,000 members in our 4th year of existing, and even more quality posting, doing so is up to you. PS: There is a chat is open tonight (click the 'chat' button; you must be a logged in member to see this button), starting at 8PM EST, to celebrate the anniversary. You can do as you wish in there, within reason, so have fun! Discuss your memories of this site and how you heard about and why you joined this site.

Happy anniversary to the boards! ;D It actually seemed to me that not only did this site grow in the last year, but the outer WoF community as a whole. You have: -tenpoundhammer and WarioSajak's Wheel of Fortune timeline, -tenpoundhammer's Bonus Puzzle Compendium, -MY puzzle compendium ( ), -Wayoshi's Wheel of Fortune Tracker, -And much much more! All this couldn't be done without the recent success of these forums. Here's to many more years of these boards!

Warning for those who don't like reading long paragraphs - mega-post below. Discuss your memories of this site and how you heard about and why you joined this site. Absolutely. It all started on a day in mid-March, maybe early... I was searching for Wheel of Fortune sites on Google and this site came up as the first or second result. Which one, you might ask? You can't expect me to remember. CHAPTER 1 Anyway... I start lurking around and take a look at the old posts... two weeks later, I signed up and there you go. That was March 21 if memory doesn't fail me... nothing really interesting happened that week, it went fast. And this is way back when I was on my laptop, so I can use the thing all night and all week, I love it. Now, this was back in March of last year, when regular chat was open and WoF Live was around and in its 3rd (?) season if I recall correctly. So I decide to play and the game was good, even though I don't remember it at all. Eventually, the game ended and I met the now main admin, Jon. We just chatted for a little after the game ended and that wasn't the end of post-game chat. It was regular (of course it was, because I'm cash and he's Prizes), often being twice a week and after two weeks, I was promoted to a moderator. Which, during kingworld's streak of rule breaking, you'd want active staff there. I remember that exactly... breaking both HYO and the then-ONG rules, plus the then-Wheel of Fortune Video Collection rules, etcetera... well, you get my point. After two long weeks, she got banned and I'm partially responsible for it, noting the duplicate account and keeping a close eye. Now, Chapter 2 time... CHAPTER 2 Free Play opens, the world screams in joy and to this day, it still survives. I was also mostly responsible for Game Night Rotation's revival (why I wanted it back, I don't know), but GNR did sink after the first week or so and it got axed after about a month. Though after a while, it got revived with some changes, only to be axed later as well. So ONG gets popular for a while, then it's name gets changed to HOS and... does anyone care? Probably not, so I'll just move to the major month - August. By now, GNR was out and that proved to be a good move, the summer chat was getting increasingly popular. Several games were played and it was both regular and non-regular. Most recognized and remembered by me is Countdown hosted by various people (including me), Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (primetime, if you haven't already guessed) hosted by cu, and Super Millionaire, the evil game where winning $5,000 is very well impossible, hosted by your main admin. While Countdown was most noted for Jon always winning and never losing, cu's Millionaire was very notable for my non-stop failing, in addition to the lack of answering simple questions correctly. i.imgur.com/lH4Su.jpgi.imgur.com/AarxK.jpgAh, good times... as I was saying, those three games were played on a regular basis in summer chat, along with tons of videos. Then the site changes heavily - new formatting, new boards, old boards gone, new style, new colors, new background, new everything. This I had no part in, but it was certainly one of the best moves I've seen in these nine months. That later created more changes, most of which are good. First, HOS was destroyed and to this day, I do not regret deciding it should go. Right about that time, I started watching more and more Wheel of Fortune, learning about all of it as I go and to this day, I still watch the show every day. Every single day because it's a great show and I enjoy it a lot. This later inspired me to start doing retro recaps and as of today, January 21st, 2012, I have done 80 retro recaps (correct me if I'm wrong). I'll be doing a lot more too. So all in all, I'd like to give a big shout out to Mark for creating these boards. Also cu for being a great co-admin and for making this site what it is today, as well as Scott for writing so many good retro recaps and helping me make the section bigger. I'd also like to give a big shout out to tnpoundhammer and WarioSajak for creating the Wiki and the timeline and last, but not least, Jon for being a very great main admin and for all of the good decisions he has made this past year. I thank all of you and here's to Year 4 of WoFL! EDIT: Also, here's a screencap of the boards on Halloween. i.imgur.com/IcLiF.jpgAlso, on a completely unrelated note... The day's show was pretty standard, including a loss in the Bonus Round, of AERIAL FOOTAGE. This is where FGHA would come in handy. Now, about those cupcakes...

Happy B-Day to WOFL!
Even though I hardly post here as much (been checking some non-gameshow related sites more now) I enjoyed every change here, but I did miss the Summer Chat and WOFLive, but I see there is a (I guess temporary) chat on here now!
I mostly joined the site because at that time I was addicted to game shows (I still am) with a Golden-Road.net account, a BlogTV account (mostly for BigJon06's games, that I haven't been on since September), so once when I heard of this site on GR, I decided to join!

Sorry I missed the chat, but I'll chip in my memories anyway: I joined on July 7, 2009, about two weeks after my falling-out with Golden-Road (discussed elsewhere on this site), partly out of a vague interest in the show. I had already seen the various clips on Brad Francini's website, and while watching daytime episodes on YouTube I somehow got the idea to take notes; these began as the simple "contestant names, categories, and puzzles" but got progressively more complex as time went by. I also played along, of course. In August, I submitted the idea of having a timeline not unlike that of Golden-Road, which was met with support from our wonderful forum creator. I didn't get much done, though, for several reasons. Either I somehow forgot about the site, or any posts I made between mid-2009 and mid-2011 were those in the old Video Collection that got nuked following the Sony takedowns. ==== In 2010-11, I began (again with a somewhat interest in the show) helping TPH on the Sony forums, mainly with daytime Bonus Round puzzles. When he debuted his nighttime timeline on Angelfire, I sent him a PM stating my concerns about how unruly such a thing was and suggesting he move it to Wikia (where I was already a member). It was about that point, when the History Wiki began and I created the daytime timeline (because I wasn't going to allow it to be just like the show in not discussing the whole history), that my interest in classic Wheel skyrocketed and I began fervently taking notes on daytime episodes/clips while researching through Google's news archives and the like. (Still don't know if Wheel even knows about it, though.) ==== As for the forum...you folks have been nothing but gracious and kind to me, and I hope I've paid you in return and contributed meaningfully to discussions. Also, complete agreement on the current appearance looking far better than that of July 2009 -- it was way too bright and not exactly friendly to the eyes. Being promoted to Production Assistant came as a complete surprise, as well. ==== "And so I raise my imaginary glass, and hope this forum doesn't follow the show in falling on its..."

I joined May 31st, 2009, a mere 4 months after the site took off, upon persuasion by Mark on golden-road.net. I had been a lurker for a short time before then. Little did I know how much I would become a part of the growth of this site in the years to come. A few months afterwards (not sure of the exact date; Mark, Jon, maybe you can help me remember?) I approached Mark about becoming a moderator, and after conferring with the other staffers at the time (Jon included) he placed in the moderating position of the then HYO section (now Game On!) because that's where I spent most of my time on the site. Then, for the next year and a half, um, I really did nothing. The site was DEAD....until early 2011, when cu and Kori came aboard. Shortly afterwards, I was given more moderating duties and was eventually placed in a global mod spot alongside Kori because cu was promoted to an admin spot. And, that's where I've been since then (July to be exact). Really, with cu and Kori additions, the site really grew overnight. It has been amazing to see its progress over the past year, and I am forever grateful to have been a part of it. I am looking forward to many more years of fun all while expressing my love for the best show on TV! ;D

While I was on the Sony Boards doing recaps with my buddies back in January 2009, I received word from one member that Mark plagiarized our work. Later, I joined this board and told him not to do that. He apologized to me and I accepted it. Starting in September 2009, I decided to add my commentary to the recaps he made. When I came back from my December 2009 vacation, he made me a substitute recapper of the first-run board. Since I have been doing great work there, I've been promoted to associate producer.
I've also enjoyed playing on Mark's WOFLive shows. Who can ever forget a two-letter word depriving me of a virtual million?
Today, I'm now dubbed the recap team leader and I also moderate the DPG section. Here's looking forward to a great fourth year.
Thanks to the admins for creating a wonderful site.

I joined the site not long after I'd become a member of the WOF History Wiki; and seeing as this was game-show based, I thought, "Why not? Game Shows are a part of my life."
The one thing I'll remember about this site was when we used WOFL chat for TPIR chat when G-R.net (which I've been banned from) was down.
