Nighttime Wheel of Fortune: "Music Stars Week" - Original Airdate 5/3/1994 (Season 11)
Songs, spinning, and solving... puzzles and philanthropy... we've got your favorite music stars here playing for charity on WHEEL! OF! FORTUNE!
Let's meet tonight's three stars and hear about their charities:
"Weird Al" Yankovic, raising money for Comic Relief
Tammy Wynette, playing for the Elton John AIDS Foundation
Gladys Knight, supporting Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia
ROUND 1:
$1,000 is the top dollar to begin the game. No Surprise, but the Free Spin is available on the yellow/tan $400.
_ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ / _ _
PHRASE
Weird Al is in the red position and he will begin the game with a pair of $400 S's. He follows that with a T and N... although we can't sell him an umlaut, there is also an A up there. He fouls out with the F though, so Tammy Wynette gets her first chance at the wheel. Her spin isn't the strongest one on record, but it's good for two $350 H's, followed by a P on $500. With one last letter, the G for $750 more...
S H A _ _
T H _ N G S / _ P
PHRASE
Tammy's going to SHAKE THINGS UP by taking the early lead with $1,950!
Sole Dud: F (Weird Al)
Weird Al: 4 of 5 this round, did most of the dirty work
Tammy: $1,950
Gladys: did not get a turn this round
After a quick clip from Weird Al's "Bedrock Anthem" plugging his Alapalooza album... time for the next round.
ROUND 2:
$2,500 is on the wheel this round. No prize since this is a charity week.

THING
Tammy has the lead and the right to start the second round of play... she does so with a pair of S's on $200. Her next spin is a lot better though - a trio of T's on the glittery $2,500 space - $7,900 already! After a couple N's, her turn ends on a dud H. That means Gladys Knight now gets to join the game... long enough to LOSE A TURN. Al gets his second turn of the match, and he's on a quick roll with two R's, two A's, and a Y! After buying the trio of I's, he plays the bad P to send things back to Tammy. She gets an M and three O's, but even with the puzzle mostly filled, she can't figure it out and cedes control on the losing L. Two C's and a D for Gladys run us all out of consonants:
C O _ N T R Y
M _ S I C
R A D I O
S T A T I O N
THING
and she then solves COUNTRY MUSIC RADIO STATION for $1,600! Tammy must wave farewell to the $8,400 in her bank.
Duds: H (Tammy), P (Weird Al), L (Tammy)
Lose a Turn: Gladys
Weird Al: currently 8 for 10, but still no cash
Tammy: $1,950
Gladys: $1,600
ROUND 3:
$3,500 and $1,000 are the highlights on the wheel here: nothing new to put out since there is no Oreo wedge yet.

CLUE
Whoever solves this puzzle will have a chance to solve the Clue for some bonus money. For now, we turn to Gladys as she begins with a couple $150 N's. No T to follow up with, so Al gets another chance to break through. Well, it won't happen this time... LOSE A TURN got him. Tammy wants to make up for losing that big bank last round, and she gets going with an S, L, two E's, and three M's! She has the right idea to buy another vowel, but A was the wrong one - back to Gladys for the second cycle. She hits the Yellow Wedge of Turn Loss, giving it back to Al long enough to dud a D. Back around it goes to Tammy, who can't hit with the H - but Gladys is right on with an R! She buys two I's, lowering her bank to $450... and then BANKRUPTs the rest. Al has almost enough letters to spell BOY twice - a B and pairs of O's and Y's. After two K's, a J, and a W, there's only one letter left:
_ O N Y / S W I M
M O N K E Y
J E R K / & / L I M B O
CLUE
so Al fills in PONY SWIM MONKEY JERK & LIMBO for $2,300 plus $500 in bonus Clue money for telling Pat that these are all names of dances!
Duds: T (Gladys), A (Tammy), D (Weird Al), H (Tammy)
Lose a Turn: Weird Al, Gladys
Bankrupt: Gladys ($450)
Weird Al: $2,800
Tammy: $1,950
Gladys: $1,600
ROUND 4 (Full Speedup):
$5,000 and $1,500 are on the wheel for this round... but after a quick clip of Gladys and Vince Gill singing "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing" is played, there's only time for Pat to spin! All consonants will be valued at $300 for the duration of this final round.

PLACE
Weird Al starts since it's the fourth round... he finds a T at the very beginning of the puzzle and energetically guesses THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS - clearly not even close - more likely Al is just hamming it up. It goes around twice, and at the end of the second cycle...

PLACE
Gladys adds $600 to her total by putting up two R's and solving THE FLORIDA EVERGLADES!
Sole Dud: N (Gladys)
Weird Al: $2,800
Tammy: $1,950
Gladys: $2,200
Al is going to play for a $25,000 cash bonus for Comic Relief!
