Aren't the shows simply moving stations in the affected areas?

Correct; for example, they explicitly mention Cincinnati (which is not far from here ) moving Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! from WCPO-9 (ABC) to WXIX-19 (FOX). Don't worry, WBZ is more than likely to keep Wheel, mainly because they have the money for it (it's actually owned by CBS itself, not some local group.) Besides, this new "Let's Ask America" sounds like yet another bad game show; another 13-weeker.

The only stations affected are seven owned by Scripps; just like the CBC, a cost-cutting move. As Guint said, in one of those seven markets, another station has already picked up the rights...and I'm sure the same will (or likely has already happened) in the other six. This happens all the time in the world of broadcast syndication.
The new shows that they are being replaced with are being produced in-house by Scripps Networks (who are no strangers to television production; they own several networks already, and produce programs for said networks); they are cheaper than the lucrative Wheel/Jeopardy rights.
