For those of you who were in the DPG Finals chat, you've already heard most of this...but we have finalized things, and are ready to make things public.
The current season of Wheel is almost over, and with that, a return to summer. Without the show airing new episodes, the main focus of discussion will be on the new season, when information begins to trickle in...in the meantime, it will be a challenge to keep people interested until the show returns in the fall. Therefore, we have planned several events to take place this summer, in the hopes of keeping people hooked on Wheel, while hopefully making us closer as a community.
First, a popular event from last summer, nightly chat, will be making a return. Join us on season finale night, and every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night afterwards from 8pm-midnight Eastern, for live chat sessions! Those who were with us last summer knows how fun they were...we played games, watched videos, and just had a good time. Because of schedules, we have decided to limit chat to weekends this summer, but that doesn't mean we still won't have a good time! Look for a new section to be made about chat within the coming days, which will contain all kinds of information about the chatroom. As always, only registered members will be able to access the chatroom...likewise, only registered members will be able to see the chat section.
Second, we are pleased to announce that Wheel of Fortune Live will be making a comeback this summer! However, we need a host! If you are interested in hosting the Wheel of Fortune Live revival this summer, please send me a PM with a formal application. Your application should include the following:
-A potential rulesheet. What is the round structure you plan to use? Is it one based on the real show, or is it an original format? Likewise, you should state which gameplay elements you plan to use, how the bonus round will work, etc.
-At least two sample puzzles; a maingame puzzle, and a bonus puzzle.
-The Wheel itself. How will players spin the wheel? Likewise, how will it be determined what players have spun? What amounts are actually on the wheel? If you plan to just use a layout from the real show, either past or present, just tell us which one...otherwise, give a brief description of your wheel.
-Links to any previous netgames you have hosted, if they are still online. Prior hosting experience is preferred.
The deadline for applications is Wednesday, June 6th. All potential hosts should have sent me a PM with the requested information by this time. After applications have been received, they will be reviewed by Jon and I, and the best ones (note that sending an application will not necessarily mean that you will get an audition) will be given a callback to participate in a live audition the following Friday night, where they will host one puzzle to a panel. Please note that, if selected, this will become a weekly commitment until the end of August...if you know in advance that this might be an issue more than once, please don't apply.
Finally, on that same note, we will be allowing members to submit scripts to host games in our Game On! section this summer. Shows will run alongside regular Rotation ones. Check the Game On! forum shortly for more information.
In addition, there will be a few other surprises...keep an eye out for them.
On a saddish note, the third member of our admin team, mysterywedge, remains without regular Internet access, and will likely remain so until the fall. In the interim, however, MarioGS has been promoted to Executive Producer, and Scott to full Producer, to fill the void left by Kori's continued absence. In addition, TenPoundHammer will fill in as backup DPG host, should any of us be unable to host a puzzle on any particular day.
If there are any questions, as always, feel free to ask. I hope to see lots of potential WOFLive hosts send me PMs!
