Well as many of you know Jeopardy is renewed through its 30th season (2013-14). This post is about the future of Jeopardy following that season.
One rumor is that Alex Trebek will retire after that season.
Also, is it likely that after season 30, Jeopardy will no longer air new episodes?
But if Jeopardy stays on the air after Season 30 and there's a new host, who do you think it could be?
Personally, I think Richard Karn (he previously hosted Family Feud) should host Jeopardy! after Alex retires. What do you guys think?
I don't want to see jeopardy leave after 2013-2014.

One rumor is that Alex Trebek will retire after that season. Certainly possible. Also, is it likely that after season 30, Jeopardy will no longer air new episodes? Unless the viewership drops drastically in the next two seasons, no. But if Jeopardy stays on the air after Season 30 and there's a new host, who do you think it could be? Personally, I think Richard Karn (he previously hosted Family Feud) should host Jeopardy! after Alex retires. "Welcome back to Double Jeopardy! And because Steven's going first, I'm DOUBLING THE DOLLARS!" Yeah, no. Sure, Karn was decent on Bingo America (then again, anyone would've been better than Patrick Duffy), but he certainly isn't Jeopardy! material.

It is also rumored Alex might retire after this season, but I don't see it happening.
And what would viewership be like if Ryan Seacrest took over after Alex retired and Jim Thorton replaced Johnny Gilbert?

The following might be just speculation on my part, but, assuming the show continues to post strong ratings into Season 30, regardless of whether Alex retires or not afterwards, if CBS Television Distribution (successor to King World) drops distribution of the show, I can imagine the possibility of Sony Pictures Television taking over the distribution and syndicating the show to stations themselves, like they do with all of their other syndicated properties.
As for Johnny, and I don't mean to sound cold by saying this, but if he continues announcing until his death, I just hope they don't dub over his remaining episodes that have not yet aired (like with Wheel's dubfest from last season by dubbing over Charlie O'Donnell after his death, and then dubbing Jim over the other guest announcers the following summer).

But then again, if Jim Thornton takes over as Announcer on Jeopardy!, he'll either pull off a double on both shows, or someone may take his place on WHEEL.

Alex may be getting old, and he certainly can't host forever, but I don't see him quitting just yet. He looks young enough to take over Bob Barker for the longest hosting stint on one game show if Pat doesn't beat him to it. I don't have good ideas as to who should take over if he quits and the same applies to if Johnny Gilbert passes away.
Part of my feeling is that it's hard to imagine what shows would be like if established people therein leave, and even once you have an idea the old person will have left behind a lasting impression. I've had the chance to watch today's Price is Right episode, and Drew Carey's hosting job has improved since the last time I've seen a full episode, but I still associate TPIR with Bob Barker despite him leaving five years ago. I will probably do the same with J! and Alex long after he leaves.

Drew Carey's hosting actually decreased as time went by. Season 36 was his best...but that was because Roger Dobkowitz kept him on a leash.

My pick is Jeff Probst of Rock & Roll Jeopardy!; but I was told he's got a new talk show coming this fall; and given the huge ratings on Survivor, that show's gonna last, and so is his tenure as its host.
And it's like some of you say--you usually associate a show with a longtime host; like people preferred Ben Bailey's "Cash Cab" over Beth Melewski's "Cash Cab: Chicago" (it lasted only one season), Regis' Millionaire over Meredith's, and Anne Robinson's Weakest Link over George Gray's (he's now TPIR announcer), etc.
