We all know Harry Friedman has been the executive producer for Jeopardy! since 1999, and the show received a lot of awards since he got the position. We all know he was behind the introduction of the clue crew, making the material more challenging, lifting the 5-day rule for returning champions, and all the other things to make the game more interesting. For those of you who don't know, he was one of the producers from 1997-99.
Was he one of the people behind ending two long-standing Jeopardy! traditions during Season 14, even though he wasn't executive producer at the time? (first, the set no longer turned red in DJ! starting on October 6, 1997; then in early 1998, the practice of popping in the dollar figures on the DJ! board ended) He was behind the dollar figures no longer popping in on the Jeopardy round board during Season 25 and bringing it back with a new sound effect in Season 26, which I still don't understand why it happened in the first place (the saying: what's not broken doesn't need to be fixed - so they should've kept the dollar figures popping in on the J! round board and today we still hear the beep beep beep beep beep boop rather than the chimes).

We all know he was behind the introduction of the clue crew, making the material more challenging, lifting the 5-day rule for returning champions, and all the other things to make the game more interesting. And yet he's made a bunch of changes to make Wheel less interesting. As for the rest of your post, I'll just quote this: what's not broken doesn't need to be fixed It's "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." And even then, it's iffy -- sometimes the changes work for the show's benefit ( The Price Is Right and Match Game in the 1970s), sometimes it doesn't (the American Temptation in the 2000s). I honestly can't say the Jeopardy! changes broke anything -- those changes worked and improved the show. But one gets the feeling that Harry likes it more than Wheel, given that those changes have done little except add commercials, decrease the number of actual prize sponsors, and not actually have to deal with the same player for more than one episode.

Really, does the dollar values "popping" onto the board make or break the show? Why does it matter just as long as the clues are there; it doesn't affect game play in the least. It's something just nitpicky...

Many fans didn't like the dollar figures already being present on the board at the start of the 1st round during season 25, and that's probably why they brought it back when the new set became permanent.
Like one YouTube user says, Jeopardy without the board fill sound is like TPiR without the losing horns.

I prefer Jeopardy! with the board fill sound in Round 1. I wish it'd be brought back to Round 2 as well, but the way it is right now is good.

Lifting the 5-time champion rule, making the material more challenging, doubling the dollar amounts in the first two rounds, and the addition of the clue crew did improve the show. But did all the other changes; the set no longer turning red in DJ!, the practice of popping in the dollar amounts on the Jeopardy! round board ending in Season 25 and bringing it back in Season 26 with a new sound; actually improve the show?
Personally I think the old board fill sound fits Jeopardy better than the current one does.
