Bleh... not good fundamental play tonight. At this point unless the puzzle is very long, mass-buying all the vowels could find yourself losing big $$$, exactly what the budget department is potentially looking for.

That was a terrible BR guess, so much I didn't even record it as a missolve on WOFTracker.

Tossup #1: Cheryl's answer might work for a food-related week, but we're talking outdoors here.

R1-R2: Ouch, sole dud vowels killed potentially big totals for both Chris and Jessica. Of course, the scores after R2 aren't pretty...

R3: ...but this is a better round! Boy, Cheryl was pretty close to gaining the other 1/2 quite a few times.

Bonus Round: I had this w/ the RSTLNE. Sigh, another player shot down by a compound word. Would it kill Harry & Company to use non-compound words?!

Let's hope for the best on the Portland finale.

I missed the beginning of the show through all of R1, but it looks like I didn't miss much.

R3: Wow, so close to getting the other 1/2 Kia.

I don't know if AMAZING was necessary here, but a nice choice of trip. It would be nice to see the show tape from there again, too.

R4: I knew this with just the N!

BR: Man, another "we will only use a single word BR puzzle if it's a compound word" moment!

At least her guess, even if it was ridiculously off, was also such kind of word.

I thought it was kind of odd that they did the "score change" shot for Cheryl getting $2,200, but not $7,000...

Anybody notice how at the end of the show, they left the Wheel as-is post-R4 instead of setting it up for R1? Looks like this show was originally scheduled for Wednesday, the last show of the earlier taping session...

TU1&2: #1 came way too close to being failed for such a common phrase.

R1: Usually, G is a better call than N on cardboard, but it works out nicely here. The dud U, however does not... in fact it was the ONLY dud vowel in this puzzle, and it costs our first spinner big time. We also got some spevolving at the end of the round - if you're going to spend $250 to buy a vowel, why not take at least one more spin to get $300 or more back?

R2: Mystery wedge picked up, $3,500 hit for a multiple, lots of money... AGAIN derailed by the only dud vowel, the A this time. Cheryl is careful not to let Jessica get her turn back and cash in, but she spingles in the process and gets the house minimum. In fact, only $2,400 in spinning money has been given away after two rounds!

R3: Hi, Wild Card... bye, Wild Card. This time, the one dud vowel is the U, and for the first time tonight, it's avoided (or should I say U-voided?). Cheryl kept gambling for the Kia (or didn't know the puzzle), but the $3,500 hit pays off this time for a five-figure round before the Orlando trip even figures in!

TU3: Chris sweeps the toss-ups... but isn't that a Landmark?

R4: No thoughts from Chris starting out - at least he's not a "Hi Mom" contestant. Admittedly, this combination of uncommon letters made it a bit tricky, and I'm not surprised that it took a while. After the dud A in Round 2, Jessica leaves with the Pity Thousand while the others each take at least fifteen times as much.

Bonus: Tough one, and I admit defeat as well. The P was key here.

Overall: R3 and R4 were nice, but the bad R1 and R2 losses balance them out. This is a 6/10 again.

Grills are usually used outdoors. Her answer made sense, but it was clearly wrong from what was showing at that point.
