Wendy's 2 for 2 w/ a BREAKFAST NOOK.
BEACH TRIP ON THE WHEEL: Sandals La Toc Golf Resort & Spa in St. Lucia w/ the hotwire.com travel worth $6,700
Jackpot Round - FICTIONAL CHARACTERS
Wendy immediately BANKRUPTS on the MDW's left side. Nathan controls the rest of the round (all of his spins landed him on the yellow $400 space)...
F R E _ F _ I N T _ T O N E / & B A R N E _ / R _ B B _ E
...Yabba Dabba Doo -- he IDs FRED FLINSTONE & BARNEY RUBBLE for $4,200.
BANKRUPT: Wendy UNCLAIMED JACKPOT: $7K
Pre-Round 2 Scores Aysha: $0 Wendy: $3K Nathan: $4,200
========
Mystery Round - SAME NAME
Nathan gets off to a nice $10,500 start w/ three N's. But after buying some vowels, he hits the BANKRUPT next to $3,500 to flush $10K down the drain. Secondly, Aysha puts up two L's, but then a negative vowel in A. Next, Wendy says S for sorry while on the Mystery Wedge between FP and LAT. Back to Nathan who puts up an R and a T, the latter of which was called on that same MW. He wastes little time in going for it...but he BANKRUPTS again to the tune of $1,800. Aysha gets the same normal BANKRUPT to forfeit $550. Wendy then picks up the blue 1/2 KIA w/ two C's. Towards the end, she FPs double D's before we turn to the board...
_ E D D I N _ / & C E L L / P H O N E R E C E P T I O N
She picks up $3,650 from this WEDDING & CELL PHONE RECEPTION.
DUDS: A (Aysha), S (Wendy) BANKRUPTS: 3 (Nathan 2x, Aysha)
Pre-Round 3 Scores Aysha: $0 Wendy: $6,650 + 1/2 KIA Nathan: $4,200
========
PRIZE PUZZLE Round - EVENT
In the middle of the round, Aysha picks up the 1/2 KIA from the same spot that Wendy got earlier. After she shuts down the vowel department, she cashes in $7K w/ the R's. We now have...
R I D I N G / O N / A D O U _ _ E / D E _ _ E R _ U _
She wins her first $8,950 and will likely be RIDING ON A DOUBLE DECKER BUS on her $7,500 trip to LONDON (sponsored by the 3D version of "Titanic"); she's on the board in a big way with $16,450!
TRIP SPIN ID: DS1997015 (Deb S.)
PERFECT ROUND!
Pre-Tossup #3 Scores Aysha: $16,450 cash and London Wendy: $6,650 Nathan: $4,200
========
$3,000 Tossup - RHYME TIME
_ _ R T Y H E _ _ _ Y
Nathan looks like a PARTY HEARTY guy to us, so he's up to $7,200.
Round 4 - PHRASE
Nathan wastes his first spin w/ the BANKRUPT near $5K; tha's his third of the evening. Secondly, Aysha fills in more than half the puzzle, but falters w/ the I. With only the M's remaining, Wendy realizes her error once she says D for DUH while on FP. She puts up that remaining multiple...
T H E / M O M E N T O F / T R U T H
...and solves THE MOMENT OF TRUTH for $2,200.
DUDS: I (Aysha), D (Wendy) BANKRUPT: Nate
Heading into R5 Aysha: $16,450 cash and London Wendy: $8,850 Nathan: $4,200
Round 5 - FOOD AND DRINK (full $1,300 speed-up round)
_ _ N _ _ _ _ _ M _ L _ N
Nathan takes a bite of a HONEYDEW MELON for $1,300.
DUDS: T (Aysha), R (Nathan), S (Aysha)
FINAL SCORES Aysha: $16,450 cash and London Wendy: $8,850 Nathan: $5,500
TOTAL MAINGAME WINNINGS: $30,800
========
$100,000 Bonus Round Given that Aysha solved only one puzzle throughout the entire maingame, I'm not sure if she can pull this off. She lands on the E in GAME.
Category: PHRASE Some good help for her to start in this five-word puzzle...
_ T / _ _ L L / _ R _ _ _ N / _ _ _
CPMA doesn't appear anywhere, and she only gets the first two words. IT WILL GROW ON YOU in a bad way that she loses the Mustang convertible, so she's sent packing w/ $16,450 cash and London.

R1: FREE PLAY! FOUR HUNDRED! R2: Terrible that Nathan's spin strength deemed too strong at a bad time after a rather consistent R1. I thought that $800 spin he got later would click over to LAT, but of course we wouldn't see that air because that would mean a "null" cycle. Same Name has the ampersand again. We all know what that means...next appearance will use AND. R3: So it looks like every non-NA PP trip will be a long movie plug from now on...Great... R4: So close at the end..."DODENT" OF TRUTH? Odd that they didn't "hold" her on the M like they did with this guy back in Season 24.BR: Knew this right away. Even though she didn't pick any obvious letters, the W might have helped here. Wendy obviously wasn't playing this way, but calling a dud on FP on purpose is a good strategy if you're gambling and aren't satisfied with $500 per letter. What a terrible audience in R2-3! Nathan cheered for his 3500 spin while nobody else cared! THAT is the most awkward WOF moment ever, NOT that stupid edited viral video. At least they did react to the close call with $5K. Just when I thought they weren't using any canned audience SFX this week. While there were still no signs of the applause track, they used the same old "awwww" after the BR answer reveal, even though the reaction to the car was louder and real. Huh??... Another OK show, about the same as yesterday.

R1: $4,200 is decent for Nate, but why not go for the L's?!
R2: Bad luck for our lone man on the panel. $3,650 isn't too shabby for Wendy.
R3: The only highlight of the night, period.
R4: Good thing that FP saved Wendy's behind, since D was a very dumb choice.
Bonus Round: I had this w/ the RSTLNE. Aysha's another one of those people to have CMA in a player's choice of letters. BGHO would have done it for her.

Aysha should've at least called the O's in the BR, but it's not surprising she pretty much completely missed the bonus puzzle, considering she solved only one maingame puzzle tonight.
I wish Nathan had better luck w/ that wheel.

TU1&2: I was expecting WATER on #1, and I think our player was too until the V came up.
R1: Tough luck for Wendy with the immediate Bankrupt, but Nathan is able to pick it up and run it out for $4,200 which isn't bad. He left a pair of L's and some singles behind though.
R2: I got this with just the N's and E's. Nathan racks up more than twice his previous total with that glitter hit but then flushes $10,000 to Bankrupt, plus $800 on the Mystery pickup next time by. Wendy is able to reclaim the lead with $3,650 and a Kia tag!
R3: I expect to see WAYD later with this puzzle being categorized as Event. Just like R1, all vowels are good, and purchasing is used to great effect. We get another good $3,500 hit, which is cashed in this time! And a trip to London too - even if it is a movie-trailer trip, it's a nice change from the Caribbean!
TU3: No sweep for Wendy, just $3,000 for Nathan.
R4: Aysha very well could have had this one, but that bad I buy hurts her at the end. I was shocked by the D call from Wendy - wonder if she was intentionally saving the pair? If she was, it very nearly paid off, one spoke away from the $5,000! Too bad she only pockets $2,200 in the round.
R5: Quick round, where RSTLNE came up pretty spare. Nathan adds $1,300, making his third-place total $8,500 - not bad!
Bonus: Nope, no WAYD, but a giant puzzle! Which of course makes it an easy one, whih I RSTLNE'd. The G and O would be a big help here, but with Aysha's picks, she clearly had no idea.
Overall: Couple of missed chances, but no heinous mistakes. I'll give it a 6/10.

Jumping in the WAVES? No, you jump in the water. I've never heard of jumping in the waves. That's twice in a row that the waves/water coin has come up on the wrong side for me.
Also, on May 30, 2008, the BR was a very similar IT GROWS ON YOU, which also had a strike-out in the letter department (CHMA D).

R1: FREE PLAY! FOUR HUNDRED! Why is this notable/special? Free Play is something else entirely. He was referencing the time that one guy hit Free Play five times in a row, and Pat kept yelling "Free Play!" every time it happened. The guy in R1 today hit $400 five times in a row.

^I'm absolutely aware of that, but I just don't see why referencing that occasion was necessary here.

The fact that there is a yellow $400 below the Free play may be the reason why.

Nah, it was just the fact that he kept spinning it. It just really reminded me of that moment. Just a light joke/reference.

TS1: What TPH said.
R1: Way to be consistent, and way to get all the multiples on the board.
R2: It's times like this when you have to be wary of your spin strength and spin to avoid Bankrupts...
R3: Great round for Aysha! (Interesting enough, the Prize Puzzle prize was not critical to her eventual win; had she not had the prize, she still would have won by $100.
That said... why isn't this "What Are You Doing?"?
R4: That FP really saved Wendy there and gave her just enough time for the answer to click.
BR: I also only got as far as "IT WILL..." G and O were the best letters to call there.

I was in the audience for the taping of this show - there was a big gaffe in the bonus round. I'm sorry I can't remember the exact puzzle, but after guessing her 3 consonants and a vowel, Aysha said something that sounded very close to the solve, and Pat immediately said "That's it!" and they revealed the puzzle. Then a few moments later they said "Wait...". They realized that Aysha did not in fact say the correct phrase.
It was along the lines of Aysha saying "Like Support" when the puzzle was "Life Support".
They took 15 minutes to figure everything out and gave her a new puzzle, which we all saw did not go so well. Kinda sad really because if Pat hadn't said "That's it" so quickly she almost certainly would have said the correct solution after 1 or 2 more seconds - but they took that opportunity away. I think she was understandably flustered and never got her groove back.

Oh great... The right thing to do would've been to just give her whatever prize she...oh wait, "Stingy" Harry, never mind.

On a different note, did they tape the "America's Game" episode during the session you saw? If so, do you remember the airdate (it's OK if you don't)? Also, I know it's far too late now, but it would have been nice if you (as in the crowd in general, not pointing fingers at you) showed some enthusiasm when people landed on $3500, just saying...Don't they encourage that stuff? Apparently the producers haven't heard of a technical win... Did they make her re-spin the Bonus Wheel for a new prize, too?

Ladies and gentlemen, Wheel Of Fortune has reached a new low! Okay, so The Price Is Right has a rule where if the outcome is screwed up due to the host or other staff, the show rules in the contestant's favor and awards him/her the prize(s). A very fair and just rule -- "We screwed up, here's how we screwed up, you win." -- and similar rules are used on Jeopardy! and Millionaire (not sure about Family Feud these days). But Wheel clearly doesn't have said rule, which really doesn't surprise me. Pat screws up, causing the staff to screw up and reveal the answer...but rather than say "We screwed up, here's how we screwed up, you win.", they instead force Aysha to play another bonus puzzle. Which she proceeds to lose. Making Friedman the happiest man in the world, partly because they don't have to admit they screwed up. And because I needed another reason to stay away from modern episodes. (tl;dr -- Wheel punished Aysha because of a screwup that wasn't her fault. If this doesn't prove they don't care anymore, I don't know what does.)

MarioGSI was technically sitting in the audience, but as a contestant waiting my turn. There were two audiences that day - dividing the 6 shows into 3 and 3 - and yes the first audience was very lackluster, and there were many empty seats on the sides. I was watching this episode last night and I even wonder if they subbed footage of an old audience in the big opening span shot because it didn't seem familiar to me - but I can't be sure. I wouldn't even have thought that they would do something like this, until I started to read some of the threads on here and realized that they can be quite liberal with their editing. They DO encourage clapping and responding to the spins - almost too much. There are a couple representatives in the audience holding signs waving their arms and trying to get the audience fired up. I have to say you feel a bit like a trained seal after a while, being commanded to clap on demand. It feels like they're more concerned about the audience providing the appropriate soundtrack than they are about just letting one enjoy the game on your own terms. They did film the America's Game episode last that day. I had to sit through all the other 5 "Back to the Beach" tapings. That was the episode on which I competed. It was originally scheduled to air April 24th, but a week after the taping they called me to say it was moved to air April 25th. Here's a link to a pic from the WoF Facebook page: dl.dropbox.com/u/172161/ontheset.jpgI'm the 14 pixels on the right.

Pat screws up, causing the staff to screw up and reveal the answer...but rather than say "We screwed up, here's how we screwed up, you win.", they instead force Aysha to play another bonus puzzle. Another type of BR screwup occurred on March 23, 2005, where the board operator misheard a contestant's choice of 'P' as 'B', in which the 'B' in the Bonus Puzzle SUBWAY lit up and was revealed. The contestant solved the puzzle, and Pat and Vanna explained at the end that they would let her keep the prize. But these days, they edit out just about anything that goes wrong (e.g. three lost turns in a row in which at least one involves losing cardboard to Bankrupt, putting in overhead spin shots from different episodes, picking up the Free Play wedge, calling a vowel on the Wild Card) so that the broadcast will conform to only the best standards. [/sarcasm] That really explains Pat's reasoning on Sony Rewards of why returning champions was dropped (which doesn't make for a good reason anyway).

Hi, I'm Aysha, the contestant who played tonight First of all, I am very thrilled to win the cash and trip in one round. It was a wonderful experience and glad that I had the opportunity to be part of such a big game show. With regards to comments on how I ONLY solved one maingame puzzle, and not solving the bonus puzzle, one needs to keep in mind that it is a completely different experience when you are at home vs. being in front of bright lights, an audience, and knowing that there are cameras taping your every move. I was the person at home who was baffled when people would call out "obviously" wrong letters or not be able to solve an easy puzzle. I would solve most of the puzzles in the convenience of my own home and would pride myself in solving puzzles without very few letters on the board. But, when it's taping, there are a myriad of things running through your mind in a matter of seconds (am I projecting my voice, am I smiling, calling a logical letter, making sure you're standing in the center of your spot behind the wheel, remembering to call a lot of vowels, etc.) Let's not forget the nerves that can really get the best of you knowing that you are on national television with millions of viewers watching you. I know the nerves got the best of me! Now, I will be the first to defend my fellow contestants when people criticize on "flubs" they make. In sum, it's harder than it looks. As for the bonus round, yes, it was an unfortunate situation. And yes, there was a previous bonus puzzle - it was a phrase: "exactly alike." I was thinking out loud, and said, "exactly alive." Of course, the puzzle was thrown out, since they misheard and showed the puzzle. We know what happened after that. Regardless of what occurred, I am still very grateful that I got the chance to be in the bonus round and didn't leave empty-handed. How many individuals will ever get that chance? I wish all the contestants that were with me on that day best of luck and congrats! It's a reward just to say that we've been on this show! Over and out
