It's another dramatic-filled Friday show, starting w/ a Phrase Toss-Up:
_ _ C K / Y _ _ R
B A _ _
Tarique says the words John Davidson would say if somebody won a trip w/ the Secret Square on "The New Hollywood Squares", "PACK YOUR BAGS", to get the night's first thousand bucks. The last panel before Christmas:
Tarique Connelly (Philadelphia)- A ticket agent for a major airline who's visited about 25 countries in the past three years & has learned Spanish while working w/ a few Spanish-speaking workers
Melissa Butler (Ootlewah, TN)- A dental assistant & bass fisher who's been married for six years & has a three-year-old girl named Abby
Debra Lowman (Bluffton, SC)- A realtor/bank director married to Dan who has three stepchildren & four grandchildren & a favorite seafood of shrimp
Some Fictional Characters are what make up the $2K T-U board:
_ A N S E _ / _ _ D
_ _ _ _ E _
Tarique triples w/ "HANSEL AND GRETEL".
The last featured Great Escape's to The Fairmont Chateau Whistler worth $5,800 & the subject of the MidNite Jackpot Round's What Are You Doing? His first called letters are the $450 N & the $500 G at the end of the first word, then he buys the I next to it & two E's, calls a T to get the SpaFinder gift tag & purchases an O before he Free Plays three A's to finish the vowels off for the puzzle. After a $500 H for the green 1/2 KIA, he Bankrupts out on the Million Dollar Wedge's left part to lose the plate he just collected & $1,700 in cash & gift certificate. Melissa then spins the natural Bankrupt next to the Wild Card, followed by Debra w/ the other such Bankrupt. Tarique next calls a $500 S & four L's to multiply that amount by five & we have...
_ L A _ I N G
_ O _ / A L L
T H E / _ A _ _ L E S
...he ain't necessarily PLAYING FOR ALL THE MARBLES, but he solves this puzzle as well to go to $5.5K.
BANKRUPTS: 3 (Everybody)
LEFT BEHIND IN THE GRINCH'S JACKPOT: $7,950
(Note: The last shout-out of the week comes from the contestant coordinator section.)
A TV Quote's necessary for this Mystery Round. First from Melissa is the same Bankrupt of the MDW from the past round, so that's her second of the night. Secondly from Debra's lips are two FP I's but then a dud of M. Third, Tarique calls a $450 D to complete the second word & buys four E's before Bankrupting next to $3.5K to lose the $200 remainder because of his second Bankrupt of the evening. On her third spin of the wheel, Melissa lands on $550 & calls three T's for triple that figure & buys two O's, followed by a $900 trio of L's & an $800 H & I think you're gonna get a kick out of this board...
_ _ T
I ' D / L I _ E / T O
_ O L _ E / T H E
_ _ _ _ L E
...after saying this without the first word in order to try to guess at the solution, she literally says the whole line of "PAT, I'D LIKE TO SOLVE THE PUZZLE" to claim $3,100.
SOLE DUD: $300 M (Debra)
BANKRUPTS: 2 (Melissa & Tarique)
Is Debra about to get on the board in this Prize Puzzle Round & take first place in the process? We'll know soon as we get to work on a Movie Title, but she's spun Lose a Turn already. Tarique secondly gets up there two FP I's (I knew it already at this point), an $800 T, a couple E's, a $300 S, an A & a U before saying the same solution from the prior round...
I T ' S / A
_ _ _ _ E _ _ U _
_ I _ E
...unfortunately, he goofs by saying "IT'S A BEAUTIFUL LIFE", so he may have just lost an additional $350, a potential trip to NYC & the lead as a result. Afterwards, Melissa gets the other 1/2 KIA w/ two L's for $1K & a $500 D while on FP & we now have displayed...
I T ' S / A
_ _ _ D E _ _ U L
L I _ E
...she steals "IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE" for $1.5K & a stay at not anywhere in The Big Apple, but rather at the Caribe Hilton in San Juan w/ a $5,100 value, for a new leading score of $9,700 in cash & Puerto Rico.
SOLE LaT: Debra
SOLE DQ: Tarique (blown solve)
FINAL SPIN ID OF THE WEEK: RH8556873 (Richard H.)
I'm not sure if this $3K T-U Place has anything to do w/ Christmas, but we're about to know:
D A _ C E
S T U D _ O
Melissa gets DANCE STUDIO to take herself to $12,700 in cash & trip.
Things is possibly the last maingame topic of the week. She leads off w/ a $300 T & three E's, followed by the three S's for an extra $2,700, the double O's but then the Bankrupt next to where the WC formerly was to steal $2.5K; that's her third & likely final one tonight. Next, Debra calls for a C & gets two for a C-note, then a $300 P, a $900 N & an A purchase follow...
_ _ N O C _ _ A _ S / &
T E _ E S C O P E S
...before she solves BINOCULARS & TELESCOPES for her first $1,950.
SOLE BANKRUPT: Melissa
The real Last Chance Round topic of the match's Fun & Games & consonants are worth $1,300 a pop. After Tarique takes an N...
T _ R _ _ _ N _
D _ R T S
...he's THROWING DARTS to the tune of $2,600, but that missolve ultimately has done him in; he still leaves w/ $8,100. Debra has her $1,950 & Melissa's won it w/ $12,700 in cash & vacation.
All told, $22,750 in cash & vacationing has been won two nights before Christmas.
TONIGHT'S BANKRUPT TRASH (excluding cardboard): $4,400 in cash & gift tag
Maxwell House Big Money Round Last Chance Saloon #5: Melissa's envelope comes from the & and let's see if she solves these Things, starting like this:
_ _ _ R
_ _ E S
HDPA gives her...
_ _ _ R
A _ E S
...does she pull out the FOUR ACES despite the category not being Fun & Games?...
...NO, SHE SAYS NOTHING AT ALL & WE'VE BEEN SCROOGED ON THIS SHOW FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THREE YEARS; she also loses the $50K. W/ that, she'll have to settle for $12,700 in cash & Puerto Rico.
