-R1: I got it quickly with the letters spelling IT'S! A shame that possession of the MDW didn't last long for the blue team.
-R2: The yellows could have called the Y instead of the C's for the cardboard. And they've left some multiples on the board, too (the P's and the K's).
-R3: RESAI was what I needed to solve this one. I wish the blues go on at least one more spin to call those W's.
-R4: I got it the same time as the yellows. Great come from behind win by them!
-Bonus Round: I got it with just the RSTLNE.
EPISODE RATING: 7 out of 10
I'm glad we won't be seeing more team weeks for a while. ;D

This was the type of show I was expecting all this week, but oh well. (Well, I didn't think something like R2 would happen, and apparently twice, once edited out...)
Andy - they didn't have a WC to use, take a close look. The conclusion is a previous triple fail occurred at the start of the round.

All of this week's maingames have been at least decent. Nice comeback by Natalie & Adam!
That bonus puzzle was as easy as would get all week; I'm not surprised Natalie & Adam solved it quickly.

Weird R2. Apparently a triple dud went by, but they left in another. When's the last time they left in three consecutive lost turns?

Ah yes. I didn't notice the editing of R2 until I recalled this in my head. I've added the note about it in the recap.

Well... this episode is what I like to call, a not bad, but not great episode. One that didn't have horrible gameplay, or great gameplay. First Two Tossups: Figred out the first tossup a few letters before the yellow team buzzed in and I got the second one with the first four letters. Round 1: Not much to say about this round except that the puzzle was recycled, obviously. They had that one in 1998, when Fred Rogers actually made a guest appearance. We'll miss you, Fred. Round 2: Wish they saved the Cs and gone for the Ks and Ps. Round 3: Not giving me a chance to add some commentary, all I have to say is, the Blue team should've gone for the Ws and did anybody notice that the blue team landed in the middle of the orange $800 that round (I think)? I wonder what would've happened if they went to Bonus Land... Third Tossup and Round Four: Figured it out at the same time as the Yellow team did. I was mad at the red team for not picking T, but the Yellow Team managed to do an impressive solve! Bonus Round: Easy Bonus Round, I think we can all agree there, even though Ithouht it was CUBAN FEVER the first time. Episode Rating: 6/10Overall View: Well, this episode was not bad, but not great or exciting, but I will be looking forward to no teams next week and the best part of this episode... no T on cardboard!

I saw the MDW loss coming from a mile away. As others have pointed out, editing fail in Round 2... I know I said this in chat earlier, but I was really mad I didn't hear any cheering when the MDW or 3500 was landed on. Wheel is not a boring show, so contestants and audience members, stop acting like it is! Even the contestants don't seem to show much excitement to what they spin anymore. They and the audience save all their enthusiasm until after the rounds. I don't like this new, calmer approach the show has. I preferred the more fun, yet still relaxed and exciting at the same time atmosphere the show had around 1996. Joacen, do they encourage this quietness for the sake of contestants' concentration? The only highlight for me was the Bonus Round win on a really easy puzzle.

I did get Cabin Fever although it was a guess. I was watching with my mother, and she tells me, "It could be it." Sure enough, it was, and not only that, we also have our first bonus round win of the season.
To add to that, I had doubts yesterday about whether or not we were going to start the 29th season the way we ended season 28 if you remember. We didn't. Sometimes it feels good to be proven wrong! ;D

Ah, the old black and white show. But other than that, we finally got an average episode with no real major mistakes, just a game unfortunately controlled by black and white. It was really nice to break through in the BR at the end of the week to avoid the shutout though. Has premiere week on Wheel ever been a shutout before?

Has premiere week on Wheel ever been a shutout before? Yes, Kev -- the last time we had a premiere week shutout was back in Season 23 (the title of that week's shows was "Wheel Around the World").

I really liked the set design this week. It was quite "homey," appropriately enough.

Great solve on a relatively easy bonus puzzle-just what was needed to prevent a second shutout week in a row (counting last season's finale week)! (Needless to say, I nailed this one right before the timer even started!)
BTW, I also noticed the Wild Card had disappeared and was like "WTH?" Talk about editing fail! Just as bad as edits on some episodes last season, where spins from other episodes were edited in.
It was great to finally see Jim on-camera for the first time too, and to say the "Promotional Consideration..." line on-camera!

Round 1: Not much to say about this round except that the puzzle was recycled, obviously. They had that one in 1998, when Fred Rogers actually made a guest appearance. We'll miss you, Fred. What a most wonderful surprise it was to honor probably the one man that I admire so much, probably more than Pat Sajak and even my own father! Fred Rogers is my idol, and he has helped me both when I was a child and an adult! I had to have had a moment to stop and have a moment of silence for this man who has inspired me so much, and I really think can inspire so many children and adults, through Mister Rogers' Neighborhood alone. Yes, it was actually just this time 13 years ago when he made his appearance on the show when they were in Pittsburgh. And amazingly, the episode number of that season was just one more than the puzzle was on this season -- since it was show #6, September 14, 1998, the start of their second and final Pittsburgh week. (And incidentally, the category then was WHO SAID IT, not SONG LYRICS). It is unbelievably sad that they couldn't have a repeat of what happened after that puzzle solve back then, since he died February 27, 2003. What a sad day that was. I'll never forget when I found out it happened. It probably hurt me as much, if not more as days like September 11, 2001 and November 22, 1963 hurt a lot of people. May February 27, 2003 be a similar such day. Incidentally, that Wheel of Fortune episode was Cruisin' Fun. As much as I love Cruise week, watching the show was very hard on that day. Incidentally, I don't know if any of you could remember this, but there was an episode where Fred Rogers was remembered -- May 3, 2004, the Monday of Mom & Me week from Season 21 and the first of three weeks from San Diego. Willie Mays had guested, and in the Pat & Vanna talk, Vanna talked about how she got Willie's autograph, and he was one of two autographs she ever got, the other being Fred Rogers! And incidentally, on that Wednesday, May 5, the BR was I'M PROUD OF YOU, which is the name of a song of Fred's. It was categorized as PHRASE, not SONG LYRICS or SONG TITLE (or back then it would be just TITLE), but I couldn't help but think that it was Fred Rogers reference week. Also, incidentally, this puzzle was half recycled another time between 9/14/98 and Friday. Back in Season 27, April 12, 2010 (the rare episode to have two maingame non-Tossup puzzles with the same category, as both R3 and 4 were PHRASE, and it was the only Season 27 episode after October 9, 2009 to not have BEFORE & AFTER or SAME NAME), the R1 puzzle, also SONG LYRICS (and it was the Prize Puzzle back in the days when it could still be R1), and it was IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY. Of course they had to have been thinking of dear Fred Rogers here. Though it's much better they had the full line. Incidentally, do you all realize that Fred will actually live on in his animated spinoff premiering in September 2012, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood! The milestone Season 30 of this dear show won't be the only thing to look forward to in just one year! Anyway, here's to you Fred Rogers! Thank you to this show for paying tribute to this dear, dear man!

Just a quick question, where was it evident that everyone went bankrupt during the edited out cycle?

Just a quick question, where was it evident that everyone went bankrupt during the edited out cycle? It was at least the blue team too, since Pat said "it's gotten everybody" when the yellow team hit it on the Bankrupt-Bankrupt-Lose A Turn cycle that wasn't edited out. By the way, anyone know the last time they left in an all-dud cycle?

Pat could have meant throughout the show, not just the round. The blue team was aired hitting one earlier, and it was already obvious the red team got one. But then again, the only "popular" dud was "R", and I don't see why they wouldn't start a sans-& Same Name with anything other than N or D. Maybe LAT was involved somehow.
I'm pretty sure one was left in last season. When, I don't exactly remember.
But the second "cycle" shouldn't have been edited out. The red team lost $4,250 to the first aired Bankrupt, then when their turn was back, they lit up the Os on Free Play, so if it was edited out, there would have been a sudden disappearance of a good sum of cash.

OK, so I was about to re-word the note about the supposed edit at the start of R2 on the Wiki, when I looked up a clip of it...and it looked like the WC really did disappear... www.youtube.com/watch?v=unfPDn2YXiIA few things to note... - Notice the wide shot of the first spin is consistent with the overhead shot. Normally when rounds start with null cycles, the wide shot is of the original first spin, not the first aired one, which always results in jump cuts. - It's a Same Name with no ampersand, so starting with N, D, and A is only logical. - Unlike when a WC Bankrupt really was edited out (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiiYTP-0OXw), this time, you can't see the card sitting on Pat's ledge where he puts forfeited cardboard. I guess we'll never know what really happened. They won R1, so it's not the same thing as when Lindsay wrongfully forfeited her card this season (11/06/12).

^ I may have found an explanation for this...
At MSG, I noticed that whenever any piece of cardboard that can carry over into the next round does (WC, 1/2 Car, MDW), during the break, stagehands take the one they picked up offstage and replace it with another one. I have no idea why they do this, but it may be so that the tape on their backsides don't show or interfere. Maybe they forgot to give the team a replacement and it was never noticed.
