I was reading up on the season 30 taping/airing info thread and came across nowhammies11's comment on him seeing a new puzzleboard font (which you can see here). This got me thinking, what if I chose a new font for the puzzleboard? My chioce would be Gotham Bold. It's very sharp, modern, and professional looking. Plus, it's an easy font to read from far. What font would you guys use? |

That font's awfully wide...I dunno how well it would fit on the puzzleboard without affecting readability. It'd have to be shrunk down to fit in...narrower fonts work better.
The current font works fine. No need to change it.

Gotham is actually the same font used for the current category strip, Bonus Round chyron, and the S29 Prize Puzzle and Final Spin graphics.
I can't really think of another font that could easily work on the current board. Serif fonts wouldn't look nice on it, and just might not be that readable or comprehensible to older players and viewers. Bolder serif fonts like Acklin and Stymie would just look too "cartoonish" and out-of-place. I think the actual font was pretty much the only logical choice.
(If anyone wants a visualization of how a certain font would look, let me know)

Gill Sans (as a nice "full circle") or Century Gothic. Preferably bold. I wouldn't say no to Beton, either.

I like the current font they use, but if I were to choose a new one, I'd pick either Trebuchet MS or Eurostile.

I wouldn't say no to Beton, either. looks really close to the old puzzleboard font. I wonder how that would look on the monitors? |
