This appears to be one of the first taped episodes, as the giant light bulbs aren't present. The stunt for this episode is "Monster Heads". A quite awkward rule as you will see, there was no house minimum, unless you solved with 0, where you were given 500... Theoretically, in the Speed-Up, if Gino knew it, he could have solved right away for the "default" 500 and would tie Jason. If he called the B and solved with 450, he would lose! How crazy would that be?! Nintendo products on the Sony lot? Well, "pocket video game"... I'm pretty sure I remember someone else winning the teal version of it, too. That wasn't very fair of them to not sound the vowel beeps until after Alana got buzzed. She might have been able to get it otherwise. I'm pretty sure that was less than 10 seconds in the Bonus Round...

"'Cuse me, 'pard me." I'll tell you, Sidoni did a nice job accenting his voice here.
Now that's one of the episodes I still have on VHS. By the way, I don't ever recall Gino saying who each head was. All I heard was David saying it. Maybe I wasn't hearing it well enough or Gino never had to say who each was.

Based on the VCR counter ("SUN 19 OCT 7:30 AM"), I'm 99% sure this aired October 18, 1997 and WVTR pre-empted it to the following day. Most of the series used a specific Wheel template, for which the spin order from Double Up went 250-700-Stunt-Top Value-450-Website...while in the early tapings, it went 700-250-Stunt-Top Value-Website-450. This episode, which is clearly an early taping, has the normal template, doesn't use more than one stunt per show, and doesn't have a mid-round break. "Monumental"? I'm sure I know what it involves (Landmark), but I've never heard of that category. No puzzle-solve cue for Round 1, and no photos of Napoleon. Huh. Is 2,250 the Wheel 2000 record for most points lost to The Creature? Waitasec...the explanation for the TOM SAWYER puzzle (done by some kid from Home Improvement, not a CBS show) didn't even mention Sawyer? Dafuq?! This appears to be one of the first taped episodes, as the giant light bulbs aren't present. There's also the clock (watch it as the episode progresses if you want to know the length of this taping) and no logo on the monitors. This is the third episode I know of that used these. The "house minimum" rule was broken: solve with 0-200, get bumped to 500; solve with 250-450, no bump. The dafuqery is immense. That wasn't very fair of them to not sound the vowel beeps until after Alana got buzzed. She might have been able to get it otherwise. On the episode aired October 4, a contestant called a consonant despite there only being vowels left in the puzzle (GOOSE BUMPS), but Lucy didn't say "only vowels left" until afterward. I'm pretty sure that was less than 10 seconds in the Bonus Round... No, it was ten seconds, but he wasn't anywhere near close to getting it.

Also, in this early-produced episode, Dave entered through the left most door right next to the puzzle board was spotted in, kinda rare opening for him. It wasn't until a few more episodes later that his regular entrance was instituted.
I think it was 4750 being the record for the most points lost to The Creature, and that episode's stunt was also "Monster Heads".
