I went down to Monroe, Ohio (near Cincinnati) for the tryouts at the Treasure Aisles Flea Market. Couldn't make the Saturday tryouts, but I was there for all 3 Sunday tryouts. Unfortunately, I didn't get onstage, but I'm not giving up. After all, they still draw a few random forms among those who didn't get called up.
This really seemed like a weak bunch IMO. A lot of people didn't seem to know how to play the game — lots of stupid letter guesses and buzz-outs. Many of them didn't seem to have the looks, almost everyone was really quiet and timid when Marty interviewed them, and very few of them seemed to have any interesting stories.
There was a very charming black man in his 30s standing right behind me at the last cycle. He got called up and I thought he was a shoo-in. He was fast, charming, funny and overall seemed to have great presence. Next to him was an older man who might've been his dad. The older man also got called up, but seemed pretty lost and quiet.
After the auditions were done, I went back out into the flea market to browse a bit (that place is huge!), and ran into both of the black men who were behind me. They were both very friendly, so we chatted a bit. The younger guy even said, "See you in Hollywood!"
