One does, and it remained in the hands of one of the day's players (Beverly) until the tape was stolen from a U-Haul, its whereabouts unknown. Beverly's also looking for her 1978 appearance on The Hollywood Squares (which had Joan Rivers) and her April 23, 1981 appearance on The Price Is Right, both of which also disappeared from said U-Haul. One response pointed her to this forum, The Game Show Forum, and Matt Ottinger as sources of assistance. Hopefully, something good will come from this -- even if it's no more than a few stories written in a forum topic, that'd still be more than what there is right now. The information Beverly mentions in the above-linked post has been added to the appropriate Wiki pages.

I just hope those tapes that got stolen are returned intact and safe to this Beverly. Still, great "discovery" that something from '77 actually still exists!
With this in mind, I'm going out a limb to say the following: It's likely that there are many other daytime episodes not listed at the Wiki's "Daytime Episodes Known To Exist" and never listed on the Video Archives pages that are in private collections, and thus, never released into circulation of any kind. Similar kind of story for nighttime, particuarly for Seasons 3-4, 8-9, and 11 (none of those seasons have been rerun by GSN.)

I don't doubt that. There was a YouTube user by the name of Rob Mandl who who was posting clips of his various game show appearances (including Scrabble and Lingo) and mentioned that he also appeared on Wheel in 1975 and would upload something of that "soon"...but of all his game show appearances, that was the one he never posted. Whether he never actually saved it, the Sony lawyers got to him, the tape got damaged/broken, or (like Beverly) it got stolen at some point is unknown. The channel was inactive for quite some time when I found it, although I left a message on there asking about the Wheel appearance. ==== Aside from contestants and others who generally don't know the value of their appearance other than sentimental (notable exception: that guy who posted clips of his Stumpers! episodes from November 1976), there's the private collectors who'd rather hoard what they have, with the exceptions being those who were given stuff on the promise that it wouldn't leave their hands or be uploaded. (Then again, if I were given awesome stuff with that stipulation, I wouldn't ask questions. ) And then there's the robber. Did s/he know what it was they were stealing? If so, it could explain motive. Oh, and something else to remember -- Beverly also lost a Hollywood Squares episode from early '78, which could be daytime. I've seen it way too many times where someone would say "I lost/found lots of Item 1 and (an extract of) Item 2!" and everyone would forget Item 2.

And then there's the robber. Did s/he know what it was they were stealing? If so, it could explain motive. I don't think so. The Game Show Bandit hasn't been active since 1995, but I've looked for a pattern in all of the open tape robbery cases. Based on my research there is no evidence of a serial serial stealer.

Beverly made another post on Golden-Road on January 3. Three important things to note: 1) It wasn't just the tape that got stolen -- it was the entire U-Haul truck. 2) It happened in Tulsa, Oklahoma, while she was staying at a Motel 6 (Tom Bodett, "We'll leave the light on for you.", etc.). 3) The events didn't happen recently, but rather on May 25, 1981 (Memorial Day). So it's like two steps forward and a million steps back. Over 31 years of just floating around (not counting whatever may have happened to it during the 1977-81 timeframe) isn't going to bode well for a tape which might not have even been labeled...
