I'm surprised nobody brought this up yet, but 30 years ago yesterday, on December 13, 1982, Vanna White made her Wheel of Fortune debut on the daytime version on NBC.
Of course, her game show debut was on The Price is Right in 1980, but as a contestant who didn't escape contestants' row.
She may have served as the longest-running female personality on a game show (ahead of TPIR's Janice Pennington, who was on from 1972 to 2000). Vanna has remained active on the nighttime Wheel of Fortune for the entire run so far.
One question: Did Vanna's 30th anniversary of her Wheel debut get acknowledged on last night's episode?

No, there was no acknowledgment made last night. Since they've been recycling retro opening clips, they could have at least used that one again...

First of all, welcome to the forum. 30 years ago yesterday, on December 13, 1982, Vanna White made her Wheel of Fortune debut on the daytime version on NBC. Not quite; as Pat points out, Vanna had been one of the tryout hostesses that had appeared over the past month or so. December 13, 1982 was her first permanent show, but not her true Wheel debut. Vanna has remained active on the nighttime Wheel of Fortune for the entire run so far. Minus those two weeks where Tricia Gist filled in during January 1991, when Vanna was on her honeymoon. And no, they made no reference to her 30th Anniversary. They did that on the season premiere.

Did Susan fill in for Vanna on nighttime when she was mourning the death of her boyfriend, or just daytime?

Susan could have been on nighttime too, because back then they usually taped some daytime and some nighttime in the same day.
A behind the scenes montage from 1985 stated that they would tape two daytime and three nighttime shows that day.
