You may have heard me throw around the words "major site upgrade" recently. This is in reference to the new version of Proboards, V5, that is scheduled for initial release January 28th. However, Proboards is running a contest that would allow us to upgrade even earlier, and you can help!
The contest details are here. Basically, the two main ways you can help us out are through "Liking" Proboards on Facebook, and testing out the new Proboards global login system, which is being implemented for the new version. I will proceed to explain both right now, briefly.
To help out via Facebook, simply go to the Proboards Facebook page (clicky), Like it, and enter our current forum URL (buyavowel.boards.net) into the box to earn us a quick and easy two points! It's that simple!
The other major way is a bit more complicated, but not too bad. Simply go to proboards.com, click the "login" button in the upper right corner, and either log in using your Proboards global account password (those who have beta-tested PB5, whether on the open beta or the BAV one, already have one- simply use that login and viola), or create one if you haven't already (click on "Forgot Password", then "Register"...don't forget to save this password, as you'll eventually attach your BAV profile to this upon conversion!). Once you're logged in, simply enter our forum URL in the box at the bottom and earn yet another two points!
Each user can earn us two points per method, for a total of four points. There is no cost whatsoever to do this, so don't feel like you have to pay us anything. Though we'd never say no to adfree credits!
Our Current Point Total: 96
The more points we earn, the earlier we can upgrade. If we earn more points than anyone, we can also win free adfree credits, which means those pesky banner adverts disappear.
I will make an announcement with a final upgrade date once it's set in stone. For now, if you want an early sneak peek of the new version of the site, you can go to the main Proboards Support Forum, which has already made the switch (if you register there, you'll create a new Proboards account, which will enable you to get the two points from it).
