Sort of an odds-and-ends catch-all. * The original NES game (1988) has an unused puzzle, a changed puzzle, and two unused Coca-Cola logos. It also has a semi-unused letter ding sound effect. * The original PS1 version (1998) has unused category IDs and header images for Fictional Place, Person/Title, Slang, and Foreign Word. * The second PS1 game (2000) has more unused category IDs and header images. Other than the above (updated to the new style) are Proper Names, Song/Artist, Events, and a duplicate Place in the spot occupied by Places in the first PS1 game. * As MarioGS brought up before, the recent 2012 games have a whole lot of unused voice clips (although the "have to throw out the round" one is used in the Wii U version). * And then there's the unreleased games and, heck, I'll throw in that Circle of Richness knockoff...

I remember going through the PS1 game and finding 3 things:
-Facts video
-High scores table that had graphics that looked the exact same as the ones used in the PC game, except with a triangle in the corner (green triangle button)
-The master wheel photo the games stretches to make the wheel.
There were 2 unusual things I noticed with the layout:
1. There's a white-sparkly $10,000 space (lighter than $5000).
2. There's no Bankrupt/$10K/Bankrupt wedge.
3. The corner has what appears to be the name of the designer, although I'm not 100%. It said "Scorps". Does anyone know who that is?

Why would they have unused Coca-Cola logos?

Probably because Coca-Cola owned Columbia Pictures (and therefore Merv Griffin Enterprises) in 1988. Coke acquired it in 1986 and sold the Columbia package to Sony in 1989.

^Although the Coca-Cola logo was removed from the Enterprises graphic near the beginning of 1988, hence why it isn't used in the original NES game (or, for that matter, the original NES Jeopardy! game). Regarding the '98 PS1 game, why did they have three retired categories? And why was one of them Foreign Word?! In fairness, they didn't actually use it or Slang, which makes them better than Wheel in that respect. I remember going through the PS1 game and finding 3 things: Which one? The 1998 game, or the 2000 one? I have a copy of the 1998 PC game, found at a local thrift store back in November or so; I should look in there and see if there's anything of interest.

I'd love to see that master Wheel layout from the PS1 version, MarioGS. That'd be something. I understand the rules here, but gosh, how I'd love to see that along with hearing the PS3/Wii U/Xbox 360 unused sound effects somehow. Which reminds me, on the 2nd edition and 2003 edition, both for the PC, the Wheel layout at the main menu is the same as the barren round one layout from 1998, only with a font change and the $1000 space being valued at $10,000.

Update on the original NES game -- turns out, there's some unused Wheel wedges/values... * $650 (!!) * $850 (!!) * $900 * $950 (!!) * $1,050 * $2,000 (!!) * $3,000 * $4,000 * $5,000 (!!) * $6,000 * $7,000 * $8,000 * $9,000 * $10,000 At least $1,050 and $10,000 give out their stated values. The whole thing is weird.

Makes you wonder if they were gonna try different layouts for each round instead of the same through the three rounds.

And possibly some kind of bonus wheel, with all those $x,000 wedges...
EDIT: Anybody know how to romhack? If so, you should totally make some of these wedges see action. ;D

That'd be something. By the way, what if $1250 made it to the NES before Goen hosted Daytime Wheel? Just another thing to note is that $450 didn't officially make it to the NES until the 1991 Vanna Edition came out. Sure enough, $450 is also among the values on this big money layout, and if someone could hack into the game files, $450 should be a value to play for. I have made some layouts in response to this find, including my own custom layouts. Of course, I just had to be value-obsessed (like I always am) and use every last value. germanname.deviantart.com/art/Wheel-for-the-NES-Unused-Values-348595849germanname.deviantart.com/art/Germanname-s-NES-Wheel-Round-1-348757619germanname.deviantart.com/art/Germanname-s-NES-Wheel-Round-2-First-Idea-348762851germanname.deviantart.com/art/Germanname-s-NES-Wheel-Round-2-Second-Idea-348763166germanname.deviantart.com/art/Germanname-s-NES-Wheel-Round-3-First-Idea-348763545germanname.deviantart.com/art/Germanname-s-NES-Wheel-Round-3-Second-Idea-348763818Even so, I realized something. If only one layout could be used and could not be changed from round to round, I do have layouts ready for that case-scenario. Now I also have one more layout, which shows all the unused values (including that other $1000) along with values that never even made it whatsoever yet I would want to have made it. germanname.deviantart.com/art/Wheel-for-the-NES-More-Values-348764411Yes, again, I understand the 1987 NES adaption was before $1250's time, but it'd still be nice if GameTek thought of it first.

It did say where in the ROM the puzzle bank began but when somebody discovered the extra wedges, the location of the wheel in the ROM was not given. Also, the hexidecimal values of the extra wedges but not the originals (aside from the original $1,000) were revealed. I've been tinkering with it in Hexposure but no such luck.

That's okay. I'm sure you'll get it. Now noting that only one layout was used for the whole game, what if that was the max number of layouts allowed? I made some layouts made to be universally used for that case-scenario. No $150, and since there's no 9 sprite, no $900 or $950 either. Note I made the Round 2 and 3 styles somewhat resemble the layout currently used on the show. Round One StyleRound Two StyleRound Two Style Alternative 1Round Two Style Alternative 2Round Three StyleRound Three Style AlternativeI've also made some big money layouts. Big Money Round One StyleBig Money Round Two StyleBig Money Round Three StyleNow that I've got the NES stuff out of the way, I wanted to ask about the categories from the 1992 re-releases of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd edition for the PC. I read about Group, Song Title, Employment/Employement, and Two of the Same used on the boxart here. I saw the boxart on this Ebay listing and I was only able to see Group in the left shot. Who has information about Song Title, Employment/Employement, and Two of the Same? We're they ever used in-game? I'm interested.

While I'm not sure these were used in the game, here are my guesses: * Song Title wasn't on the show itself until the 2000s. I really can't see how the Sharedata games would've done it any differently. * If Employement was used, it was likely the same as Occupation. * Two of the Same is clearly not Same Name, as both are on the box. My guess is that puzzles under this category are two items that have some sort of clear connection, such as PENCIL AND PEN (which is probably a bad example unless the round began as a Speed-Up).
(By the way, the font used for "First, Second & Third Editions" on the box is Assiduous, most recognizable as the font used on BBC's Doctor Who VHS, CD, and DVD releases since the late 1990s.)

I can tell it's from the second edition. BTW, when is Pipeworks going to release those retro layouts for the PS3 and 360?
