After a little breather, I'm back to doing recaps. Here's one with a funny contestant.
Players
Doyle Hanks: college graduate and aspiring comedian from Los Angeles, CA
Mike Deon: from Malden, MA (1-day champion with $36,300)
Kathy Brugan-Smith: travel agent from Las Cruces, NM
Round 1 ($1,000 and the SURPRISE wedge added) - BEFORE & AFTER
S _ N
Q _ _ N T _ N
T _ R _ N T _ N _
SAN QUENTIN TARANTINO solved by Doyle for $700, the Free Spin (picked up with 5 N's) (UGH!), and the SURPRISE (picked up with an R). The SURPRISE he wins is a trip to England worth $9,896!
Gameplay Note:
*Right after picking up the Surprise, Doyle missed with a G and Pat didn't ask if he'd like to use his Free Spin. Luckily for him, Mike and Kathy failed to take advantage of his mistake.
Scores so far:
Doyle: $10,596
Mike: $0
Kathy: $0
Pre-Round 2 Prize on the Wheel: a chandelier worth $3,300 (marked "CHANDELIER" on the Wheel)
Round 2 ($2,500 and the DOUBLE PLAY added) - CLUE
P A T R O N
S A I N T / O _
I R E _ A N _
Mike controls the entire round and solves PATRON SAINT OF IRELAND for $6,600 (including $5,000 with a pair of R's). He adds another $1,000 by correctly guessing the clue, which is ST. PATRICK.
Scores so far:
Doyle: $10,596

Doyle solves BAROQUE MUSIC for $1,200 and the $10,000 wedge (picked up with an S).

*Kathy hit LOSE A TURN.
*Doyle missed with an L.
FINAL SCORES

Mike: $7,600 (2-day total of $43,900)
Kathy: $4,450
Bonus Round
The remaining prizes that Doyle could win are:
*a Volvo worth over $34,000

Despite not getting much help, Doyle is still able to solve JASMINE and wins a diamond necklace worth $15,660! His one-day total is $37,456 and he will be back on Monday to defend his title!
Starting now, I will be posting gameplay comments.
R1: Nice trip. Ugh... 5 R's and not a single penny. That is what I hate about this show sometimes. 4-5-6 or more consonants, but you had landed on a prize or other wedge that doesn't offer money. The most horrible example of this was THE CONTINENT OF ANTARCTICA and THREE LITTLE KITTENS THEY LOST THEIR MITTENS travesty of 12/1/2011.
R2: Nice domination, Mike.
R3: And Kathy dominates as well.
R4: Nice to see the $10,000 wedge be claimed and won.
BR: Got it at the same time as Doyle.
Doyle was easily the best contestant that night because of his humor and everything.
