Friday, March 15th, will be a special day in Wheel history. Can anybody guess what it is? Here's a hint: the episode number is S-5785...
Also, don't count on the show acknowledging it.

...it's the 5785th episode? That's such a random number I wouldn't acknowledge it, either.

I originally thought it was related to 1978, but #785 was January 18. But I know, because I keep track of these things...
March 15 is the 10,000th episode of the continuous Wheel series, which excludes the 1973-74 pilots, Wheel 2000, and the unaired Lottery Winners show(s).

And presumably, the 1983 Ohio State Fair shows. That's it! The daytime version was known to run for 4,215 episodes, and adding 5,785 makes 10,000. Way to make it this far, Wheel. Merv would be proud.

Regarding the acknowledgement of it being #10,000, I wouldn't put it past Wheel to make some kind of reference given their classic clip selections (especially Rolf's first Bonus Round, which still leaves me speechless). And presumably, the 1983 Ohio State Fair shows. Admittedly, I forgot about those. According to this recollection, Pat brought up that week during the 1997 tapings at the Ohio State Fair: GSN made it clear in 2007 that #S-001 was a Burbank episode, so I don't know what kind of designation the show gave to these or any of the other local-market episodes done in the 1980s-90s. My best guess is that it was something like #S-000A, 000B, etc.

But the problem is, this show will be during a Sandals week, which is probably going to use closings that are pre-recorded and only talk about what the Sandals resorts have to offer. I can't see Pat mentioning it outside of a closing.

I was wonderin' what this 'milestone' was all about when I first saw this... I was thinking it was some anniversary of something that I don't know about.
My guess is that there won't be any mention of it at all on-air. Even if there were, it would only be very brief in passing.
I was also thinking that the Ohio State Fair '83 and the Lottery players shows were given independent counters with different prefixes, much like the CBS and Return to NBC '91 daytime runs had.

^And like special episodes of The Price Is Right -- the '86 Specials, the 25th/30th-Anniversary Specials, and the Military Salutes/MDS'/"50 Years of Barker" specials all had distinct designations.
But regarding Wheel, GSN listed Pat's last daytime show as "NTD1-3686", a strange designation that I've never seen elsewhere.
