OK, I just got this in the mail today and am trying to install it. However, it says I have to install an earlier version of QuickTime just to get the game to work (which is useless, because that version of QT is defunct). Can the game work with the current QT install?
Because right now, I am having no luck getting the game to start up.
By the way, I am using Windows XP.

Try installing Microsoft Virtual PC. Install Windows 98 (or even 95) to that and then try it.

So is Microsoft Virtual PC like, a program designed to run older Windows programs, or something like that?

Yes. You still need a boot disc for Win98, though.

I tried playing it on Windows 3.1 (run through DOSBox), and I couldn't get it to work. I think it said something about not having the proper .DLL files.

I have found that WinXP running Virtual PC 2007 running Win98SE has worked the best for playing CD-ROM based games of the same era (the first YDKJ comes to mind).

Well, for my copy; it was something about a "QTInitialize Failure", or something like that; which I don't understand, as I have the properly functioning QuickTime Player as well as the latest version (7.7.3).

Possibly "too new" QuickTime?

Possibly "too new" QuickTime? Bingo. Win98 (even 95) will have the proper version of QuickTime.

Question:
I installed Windows 98 via VirtualBox. Everything with the installation went fine, and I thought the same of the 1995 Wheel game, but when I went to play, the opening sequence didn't play. I hit the spacebar and the menu came up, but the whole screen looked "washed out" in a way and when I went to select a contestant, it said it could not load the video and the game quit. Any help on what I need to do to fix it? Thanks!

I just figured out the problem--and it took me a while to do it.
I have to first--and I do mean first--install the game *and* the early QuickTime Player that's included (Version 2.1). Then I can update to the latest version of QuickTime.
So if anybody installing this game has the same problem as I did, well, I gave you the best solution I could.

Bumping for a relevant question.
I have Win 95 & 98 SE installed on VirtualBox. I was able to update my video drivers to true 32-bit colors. I installed J! & Wheel (the Sony Imagesoft version) on both. J! plays through fine, except it won't show any of the videos (the opening, Alex talking, the contestants' movements, etc.) and Wheel gets to the setup screen, but when I select a contest, an error message pops up and says "Movie cannot be loaded. Wheel of Fortune cannot continue" and it closes. Any suggestions why it's not working? I used the QuickTime that came with both games (version 2.2), and I tried to install a newer version, but it still didn't work.
Edit: I've done this on both Win 95 & 98. J! is being loaded through a virtual disk drive & ISO, while Wheel is being loaded from the CD in my physical CD drive.
