As mentioned in the subject, what would you change about wheel? For me, I would mix up the Mystery Prize (e.g. make it a trip, living room, or a mix of cash and prize) and revive some shopping elements.

None because I'd need Harry Friedman's job instead of Pat's.
If given a choice... pretty much bring other prizes to the Trip Puzzle as mentioned, and try to bring in better categorization.

Up the price of vowels. I miss the days when a player was forced to spin again because they didn't have enough cash to buy right off the first spin. I like what everyone does here, make the price of vowels $500 (even though inflation dictates it should actually be much higher than even that).
I'll also echo the sentiment of varying up the prizes instead of just trips. At least certain merchandise you can sell if you can't (or don't want to) accept it.

To be honest, I'd rather see round 3 as a variety round. Why? I'm already sick & tired of all those Prize Puzzles happening in round 3 & I already miss seeing the prize wedge being available for all 3 rounds.
As for the Prize Puzzles, I don't want them to happen every day & does it always have to be vacations? Sure, people love to win a trip to Europe or Hawaii, but I'd like to see more variety of it and that goes the same for Prize Wedges and Gift Tags. Besides, it's also a good idea to offer a variety for the Mystery Round instead of just $10,000 in cash.
I'd also get rid of the 1/2 CAR tags since the wheel is overloaded with cardboard, but I do want to see the Double Play token come back, so if a player lands on $500 & a Prize Wedge/Gift Tag/WILD Card after handing over the Double Play token, then they can get $1,000 per consonant, but will be returned if the player chooses to flip a Mystery Wedge over, land on the $1,000,000 Wedge, or call a vowel or solve the puzzle if they hit the Free Play Wedge. Like the 3 I mentioned earlier, if the player calls a consonant that is in the puzzle, they get $500 along with the Double Play token.
Also, I'd like to see the $3,000 bonus categories back in play.
I'd also make the show have similar adaptions to JEOPARDY!, mainly the returning champions policy and the prize money for 2nd & 3rd place. If 2 players have no money at the end of the Speed-Up Round, there should be a Toss-Up for $2,000 as 2nd prize while $1,000 will be awarded for 3rd prize & if there's a tie for 1st place, then the tiebreaking Toss Up should be Double Or Nothing, so if 1 player rings in & correctly solves the puzzle, they double their earnings, but if they fail to solve correctly, then they lose everything, which could result a pathetic $1,000.
Also, I'd get rid of the $1,000 Toss-Up puzzles because it's a waste of time just to see who gets interviewed 1st.
I'd also have celebrities play for their favorite charities & this time, it has to be just the celebrities themselves, not a team of 1 celebrity & 1 regular contestant. Also, each celebrity should receive a minimum of at least $10,000 for their favorite charities.
Instead of having 5 different settings each day for America's Game, I'd suggest the 3 biggest winners from 5 different themes play against each other to win $1,000,000 in the Bonus Round, so the $1,000,000 Wedge will be removed since that will be the grand prize and in its place will be a $25,000 Wedge that will have the exact format as the $10,000 Wedge & $1,000,000 Wedge. As for celebrity games, all the prizes will be cash & instead of a Prize Puzzle Round for round 3, I suggest Red Letter Puzzles or the Big Money Round & the 3 biggest winners for Celebrity Week will play against each other at the end of that week to win $1,000,000 for charity. For road shows, the 3 biggest winners will compete against each other at the end of the week for $1,000,000 in that location like New York City, Las Vegas, or any other city they're taping in.
I know $30,000 is the current minimum for the Bonus Round, but I want the $25,000 envelope to come back. I'd also add a $75,000 envelope for the Bonus Round. Also, I'd get rid of the video wall behind the players since it's kind of distracting for people & I suggest going retro like the pinwheels or the diamonds or something appropriate for a themed event like the Hollywood Sign for a movie themed week or anything related to a California themed setting.
Added line breaks for readability purposes. The content has not been modified.

Treat the MDW like the Wild Card (hold onto it until you hit Bankrupt). Treating it like the 1/2 Car may not be a bad idea either, but I am learning more towards making Wild Card-like.

The first changes I'd make regards the set, enough with the flashing neon blues it's old. I'd replace it with a nice metallic silver or red it would look nicer. Next change no more video wall behind the contestants, colored backgrounds return in the form of puzzle board squares for a retro-futuristic look, then have the central video screen removed for generic shows in favor of a specialized entrance area for Pat and Vanna just to change things up a little, they've been coming out from behind the board for twenty years and it's getting kind of stale, the new area would have the classic logo on a set of sliding glass doors similar to Jeopardy but there would be a special "wall" behind the doors which would resemble the old fireworks burst pattern only in a new color with the bonus wheel being updated accordingly by only having lights on the top instead of everywhere. Next would be enough with the always getting a trip in the prize puzzle/mystery round, I know 10k and European/Orient/Hawaiian vacations are something a lot of people want but why not mix it up with say house sets or jewelry. Next treat the million like the wild card and up the vowel cost to $500 (although I'm thinking inflation would set the price around $750 or $1000). I guess that's all the changes I'd make.

1. Get rid of 1,000 toss up. Make both toss ups 3,000 a piece so you don't lose money. 2. Make lowest dollar amt. on the Wheel 500. Raise vowel prices to that amount. 3. Make prize puzzle any round 1-3 again. Also offer different prizes besides trips all the time. 4. For mystery round cha GE up the prize a little. (10k-15k) 5. Bring back Friday Finals. All the bonus round dollar amounts doubled. 6. Bring 5k to 3rd round 7. Round 4 and up 10k top dollar. 8. Do away with 1/2 car wedges. 9. Less theme weeks and themed puzzles. 10. Set overhaul. They use way too much blue. Light border on puzzle board and wheel should change according to who's turn it is. Or come up with a completely new design. Get rid of video wall. 11. I don't necessarily care for the fact the same template is used everyday. I think The wheel should be mechanically spun like in wheels earlier days. Also Pat Should spin before game begins. Also before every round there should be varying locations for the starting point for that round. 12. Do celebrity tournament like jeopardy did with the million dollar celebrity invitational. The ultimate winner will receive an automatic 500,000 with the opportunity to solve the puzzle for an automatic 1million 13. Bring back more bonus categories. 14. Last but not least find a way to always show the puzzle board. This would be better for home playing.
Would love feedback on my suggestions. This would be ideal to me.

But, what are the chances of there being a set overhaul anytime soon? I would say probably not at all. I mean, for the most part, it's been the same since 2003. Since they added the new monitor(s) in the contestant area, I doubt very seriously if they would do any more major set changes. This is what folks have been used to for almost 10 years. In their minds, they probably think, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Though, it would be nice to see something new...

One thing I would do is try to experiment with overhead views. I know I tried a thread on that, but after a couple days of no replies, I knew right then and there that topic was scrap. Even so, that's one thing I'd do. Spin-Ups were another thing I considered as you could still win money without solving any puzzles; you just have to spin the highest number.
As for the Toss-Ups, since $1000 is the house minimum as well as for parting gifts, the first Toss-Up would be $2000 while the other two would be $3000.

I love how this same topic has much more response on G-R. Let's see... - Make vowels $500. - Get rid of at least the $1,000 Toss-Up. - Move Jackpot and Mystery back to R2 and R3. Make R1 a regular round and retire the Prize Puzzle. - Increase R3's top dollar to $4,000. - Only one full Bankrupt for R1 with the second added in R2. - Make the Mystery $10,000 spendable. - Put a Wild Card graphic on the scoreboards much like the 1/2 Car ones. - Contestants will only and must be prompted to use the Wild Card on $2,500+. No exceptions. - Replace the Gift Tag with a second, lesser Prize wedge worth $1,000-$4,000. - Main Prize wedge stays on for R3. - Any cardboard that is retired or Bankrupted will return to the Wheel in the next round unless it's R4. - By R4, have at least two other wedges besides $5,000 from $1,000-$2,000. - Use rarer categories more often (Headline, Classic TV, Star & Role). - On pop culture puzzles, a more even balance between classic and mainstream. - Have the Final Spin be determined by the arrow of the contestant in control instead of always the red one. - Use a $3,000 bonus category at least once a week. - Stop spelling out AND when it's obvious (Same Name, Husband & Wife, Family, any 3-word Things or Characters with a three letter word in between). - Little to no "gimme letters". Replace the BY in Song/Artist and Title/Author with a slash or omit it, have WAYD? only be used in Toss-Ups. - Have the Wheel and puzzle board neon lights display in other various colors instead of just blue and purple. - Make the score fonts wider and more readable. - When the generic set is used, use WOF logos on the video walls since there's no point in the landscapes. - Make the house minimum for a round $500. If a player finishes the game with $500-$950, THEN bump that up to $1,000. And if they must, $1,000 for team weeks. - When Big Money Week is done (preferably every season), in addition to having the $65-85K, have Jackpot start at $7,500, make the Prize Wedge a $10,000 cash prize or gift certificate, make the Mystery Prize $15,000, and put the $2,500 wedge somewhere for R4+. - Make the sixth show weeks "finals weeks" with each show having the three top winners from that taping day's full week. If not that, at least some kind of tournament.

Here's my thoughts; I have implemented them into my GO! games from time-to-time: - Vowels cost $500 (most seem to agree on this) - Raise all values on the wheel by $200, making $500 the lowest; but something different for top dollars: R1-$2500; R2-$3500; R3-$5000; R4+-$7500 - Update the set somehow; make better use of the video wall; really use the LED! Not just blue all the time; experiment with different colors. - Use a wider variety of categories. Bring back some good ones that were retired (bonus question ones most likely) - Themes, themes themes--THERE ARE TOO MANY! Cut waaaaay back and go on the road more than once a season. Too much "themeing" applies to the puzzles, too... - Axe the first toss-up; keep the $2k and $3k where they are. (Heck, that saves a thousand bucks...) - House minimum $500 flat, even for teams - Get rid of the "Trip Puzzle" - Have better prizes that go beyond just trips and shopping sprees - Use the BR money configuration from Big Money Week all the time - Oh, and make me host when Pat retires...

Axing the first toss-up to me is a bad idea. I like the idea of the first toss-up, because of inflation and because we no longer have to deal with "Just before the show we drew numbers to see who would start the game"...they used that for about 26 years (counting the daytime run); enough was enough.

I wouldn't mind if they axed the $1000 toss-up and made the opening and 4th round toss-ups worth $3000 each. I don't see the issue with always starting with the red position for the interview and just have the one toss-up determine who starts after the interviews. Even if you win the very first toss up as of now, you're just winning what you're guaranteed anyway so let's just have the opening toss up a nice large amount to get things going.

Maybe instead of theme week sets you have three main sets used. For September-November use the set with the house in the background with leaves and pumpkins. For December -February use the lodge looking set. Just add Christmas decorations in December. In March-may use a tropical looking set. If you only had three sets you could save money I would think!
Use a different color scheme. For puzzleboard each set.

I'd pitch a daytime version and, once that went to air, leave Friedman with the nighttime show again with a clause saying "If daytime gets canned, I get to come back to nighttime as EP." Since they added the new monitor(s) in the contestant area, I doubt very seriously if they would do any more major set changes. This is what folks have been used to for almost 10 years. In their minds, they probably think, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." There's about half a dozen ways I could respond to this, but I'll go with "If they have that mindset about the set when they don't seem to have it for anything else, their priorities are skewed."
