As she knows, I sat next to "Prizes" at the Newport, RI callback audition on 1/9/14 and am eagerly awaiting the letter!! Ten96lt's description at the beginning of this thread is almost spot on (GREAT job, very thorough), although there are some nuances I would add... as I've now been to 4 (yes, 4) WOF callback auditions over the past 8 years. One thing I would add is that I've never been part of the group they wanted to see again either, and since so far there have been 3 times when this meant they weren't going to choose me (as compared to all of you they didn't want to see again but they DID choose) I REALLY don't think you can read into that. I think it just means they haven't seen enough to make a decision. 19 days! OMG, I hope the letter comes this week. Of course, I just hope it comes, so if it takes 19 days, I'm cool with that.

Nada yet (didn't check mail today)...and another team (notable: team) got theirs in the mail a few days ago, which seemingly is the exception, not the rule. They're filming the 30th, so I'd think theirs came early because so few team weeks are done, AND the short turnaround. 14 days was yesterday, but I consider today the true 14, MLK and all that jazz. Could happen to us, Misty, that dang 19, haha, similar circumstances, with the federal Monday holidays. I'm feeling Saturday for me...all my signs have been nothing but positive. For you...I wish I could tell the future more of other folks, but I seem to be able to tell my own future, as I'm a little bit psychic. Nervous, but that's expected...sigh. (Oddly enough, that team? They were the exact ones to tell me I'll/I'd be on, out of the blue. I told them the same...equal action, be with me! CCs liked them, telling them they had good teamwork, as I remember.) Edit: Mail had nothing but a magazine and bill. Crap! I mean, I feel Saturday, possibly later with MLK+storm here Wednesday, but I think I failed this.

SO happy for those girls!! They really did a GREAT job during the audition. I remember feeling sure they would get the letter, but of course had no idea it would be so soon! I agree that their being a pair and the tape date being next Thursday made the process speed up for them. Imagine -- THREE WEEKS after the audition date, their experience will already be on the books! And we might still be waiting for a letter! lol So, obviously, no letter for me yet either. But as I told you, I'm not losing hope. Don't feel like you failed, feel like you learned a LOT for the next time. Because you know there WILL be a next time if for some reason you're not chosen this time. Just like me. If I have to, I'll go back a 5th time!!! I've been chosen at random 4 times at the Wheelmobile, been invited to the callback audition 4 times, and made it past the cut at the callback audition 4 times... I feel like it's meant to be!!!!

Wow, just reading these past few posts is getting me nervous for the both of you! Best wishes on getting that letter! Don't give up on the dream yet!

Making it past the cut 4 times? I'm feeling good about that. Any time now, you will be on that stage in front of a television audience!

Nothing today, just bills. I really felt today was the day; giving it a week from today, but I really doubt. Fuck my life, really hard...this is one of the few bright spots I had to look forward to in my shithell of a life, for so many reasons. Wanted to surprise family with gifts...sigh. Story of my life here, not just this: You're close to the big ticket, but you never get it...it sucks. Really hard. Everything is always nothing, by a hair.

Give it a couple more mail days, Jess. And if not, there will always be other opportunities.

How long of a wait would it be for you, Jess, before you could try out again, if you don't get picked now?

Thanks for the nice thoughts, Bryce, Mario. Can't say I know for certain about next time I can try out, but I think it's a year? Not sure, and they didn't say anything of the sort, either. Please be weather and holidays- my good friend, who seemed like a lock, hasn't heard anything, either! Maybe that's a good sign...?EDIT: Scratch that off the list for my friend Richard, he's on the show, got his letter today, right after I emailed him about it and said no to me earlier. HA! Mine turn next, right, Wheel? Is that a good sign or not for me? Like, when I wrote him, the mail has usually come for most folks, like 1PM, my time, and he said he just got the letter at 5PMish. Of course, he might have been working with his chorus (and if you're reading this, hi, Richard!) until then. Still means there's a shot here, or should I just forget it? I kinda feel doubtful now...but there's still a fair share of hope...I think... Say hello to my likely new avatar. Also, lol, don't get me wrong, I'm majorly happy for him, haha. I'm gonna be rooting for the heck out of him. I knew it'd come today, but not for who, exactly. Imprecise clairvoyance, arrrgh.

^ A year? WOW... the other day I was watching a "behind the scenes" video of Wheel from the 80's when they were still in Burbank (I think it was 1986, but don't quote me on that) when they were still holding tryouts in the main offices of Merv Griffin Enterprises, and they said there that people had to wait a month before they could try out again, if they failed to make the cut there... things most have changed quite a bit in the last 28-odd years lol
ETA: I think it was MGE's offices... they said something about "Trans-American Video", and it relating to Merv...

Don't let one time get you down. Trust me. It's not worth it. Just keep trying, that's all. If they keep saying no, just know that Wheel of Fortune will lose out on a great contestant. Only a very small percentage of those that try out for the show actually make it, so you're far from alone. It's nothing you did. It's not you, it's them. You absolutely did not fail. You did your best, that's all that matters.

Jess: I'm sure you'll be one of those lucky ones who gets the call without ever getting the letter. Just like oh, I dunno... ME.

Hey Bobby, wouldn't it be funny if you and Jess got invited to the same taping session by some chance, eh? Maybe you BOTH could clean Friedman out for 6-figure-plus paydays!

^ You did NOT fail! I know that they wanted you... and me... but we just didn't get our letters somehow. They got lost in the mail. Or they got buried under some paperwork at Sony and never got sent out. Why beat yourself up over this? I didn't get the letter after two weeks, but as I said, tons of people have gotten the call without the letter, so I'm playing it like I'm one of those people.
